“ | A.R.G.U.S. ain't all Unicorns and Mermaids. Well, sometimes it can be... Point is, keeping the world safe means that we work in the shadows. While they're all going about their daily lives up top -- walkin' their little dogs, fancy dinner parties... we're down here in the dark watching over some of the baddest of the bad. Real ruthless monsters whose very existence is a threat to that happy-go-lucky world above... | ” |
Advanced Research Group United Support (A.R.G.U.S.) is an American-based research group and special ops division, tasked with protecting Earth from terrorism, Metahuman and extraterrestrial threats.
Overview[edit | hide | hide all]
A.R.G.U.S. has a variety of roles across the globe, including espionage, scientific research, law enforcement, special operations, anti-terrorism and anti-extranormal threats. Under the leadership of Amanda Waller (and later Lyla Michaels), A.R.G.U.S. placed numerous divisions in different major cities, including but not limited to Hong Kong, Corto Maltese, Lian Yu and Metropolis. A.R.G.U.S. also handles anti-terrorism activities with the use of the Ghost Initiative, where dangerous criminals are recruited to serve under the organization in exchange for reduce prison sentences. However, for even more dangerous criminals such as the Reverse-Flash, the King Shark and Deathstroke, A.R.G.U.S. places them in a supermax prison on Lian Yu. In addition to criminals, A.R.G.U.S. allies themselves with vigilantes operating across the United States and provides support to them when the planet is under threats.
History[edit | hide]
Foundation[edit | hide]
While the background of A.R.G.U.S.'s foundation is unknown, it has protected Earth from countless threats regarding terrorism for years, ensuring the safety of civilians while working in the shadows under the command of the United States governmet.[9][10]
Alpha-Omega Operation[edit | hide]
Rise of Heroes[edit | hide]
Since the early 2000s, the number of vigilantes has been continuously on the rise. This can notably be seen in the United States, with A.R.G.U.S. often collaborating with the vigilantes in order to effectively ensure global safety.[11]
Shadowspire Attack[edit | hide]
Dominator Invasion[edit | hide]
During the Dominator Invasion, A.R.G.U.S. was contacted by The Flash and the Green Arrow, using resources of the organization to defend the planet.[12]
With the Dominators later defeated, A.R.G.U.S. remained in close contact with the two vigilantes, providing them with means to capture dangerous individuals. Over the years, Metahuman criminals such as Eobard Thawne, Shay Lamden, Joslyn Jackam and Tony Woodward were incarcerated at the A.R.G.U.S. Headquarters.[10]
Prismatic Refractor[edit | hide]
In 2020, A.R.G.U.S. was contacted by the Central City Police Department to retrieve the Prismatic Refractor. However, during the retrieval process, both organizations were ambushed by Black Hole assassin Sunshine, who was soon arrested.[13]
Prison Break[edit | hide]
In 2022, multiple prisoners escaped from their prison cells and wreaked havoc on the facility. Cisco Ramon, Kamilla Hwang and Tinya Wazzo then successfully recaptured most prisoners, with the sole exception of Ramsey Rosso.[1]
Erased Future[edit | hide]
In 2042, Behrad and Zari Tomaz were one of the targets of A.R.G.U.S. due to their use of the Air Totem, violating the Anti-Metahuman Act.[5]
