Suicide Squad is a 2016 film based on the DC Comics team, Suicide Squad, and the third film in the DC Extended Universe. It premiered on August 1, 2016, in the Beacon Theatre and on August 5, 2016, in the United States.
The film stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Scott Eastwood, Karen Fukuhara, Ike Barinholtz, and Cara Delevingne, and both directed and written by David Ayer. The spin-off, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) starring Margot Robbie, premiered in 2020, while a standalone sequel titled The Suicide Squad premiered in 2021.
Synopsis[edit source]
Figuring they're all expendable, a U.S. intelligence officer decides to assemble a team of dangerous, incarcerated supervillains for a top-secret mission. Now armed with government weapons, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc and other despicable inmates must learn to work together. Dubbed Task Force X, the criminals unite to battle a mysterious and powerful entity, while the diabolical Joker launches an evil agenda of his own.
