Corto Maltese Mission[edit | hide]
Recruitment[edit | hide]
In 2020, Waller recruited two respective teams of individuals for a mission in Corto Maltese, with one being a mere distraction for the local army (Rick Flag, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Savant, T.D.K., Weasel, Mongal, Blackguard, Javelin) and another being the actual team for the mission (Bloodsport, Peacemaker, King Shark, Ratcatcher 2, Polka-Dot Man). Waller threatened to place Tyla DuBois in prison in exchange for Bloodsport's place on the team, eventually assembling her team.[3]
Soon, Waller briefed the second team about the mission to destroy all traces of something known only as Project Starfish.[3]
Mission Control[edit | hide]
Upon landing on the beach, the distraction team was massacred in battle while the true team successfully landed on the island and camped in the forest.[3]
Later, Waller was told that Flag survived the massacre at the beach and sent the second team to rescue him from a camp, telling the team to kill the captors with extreme prejudice. However, the captors were instead the saviors of Flag as they were local resistance.[3]
With the "rescue" successfully bringing Flag onto the team, they proceeded to their mission to find Gaius Grieves and encountered a connection problem. Waller told DuBois not to execute any funny businesses and waited for a mission report. Hours later, Waller, Economos, Crawley and Harcourt were woken up by DuBois' report on Starro. Knowing their mission objective was completed, Waller ordered the team to leave. However, they refused to leave the people of Corto Maltese behind with the giant starfish-like alien and disobeyed Waller's orders. Waller shouted at them and threatened to detonate their Nano-Bombs, only to be knocked unconscious by Crawley with Waller's golf club.[3]
Waller woke up to a file transfer from DuBois, who told her to leave the team alone in exchange for not releasing information regarding the United States' involvement in Project Starfish, which Waller agreed to.[3]
Protecting the Country[edit | hide]
Project Butterfly[edit | hide]
While Peacemaker recovered from his injuries in the battle, Waller discovered that the planet was slowly invaded by butterfly-like aliens. She then attempted to request a task force to handle the situation, though was denied as the higher ups were among the infected. As a result, she reluctantly reassigned her daughter, Leota Adebayo, Clemson Murn, Emilia Harcourt and John Economos to recruit Peacemaker and assemble an off-the-books task force.[5]
Waller later received the task force's request for backup, and subsequently contacted the Justice League, albeit their arrival was after the battle. Adebayo also betrayed her mother, revealing the cruel actions of Waller and the Task Force X to the public.[2]
Champion of Kahndaq[edit | hide]
Despite Waller's actions being released to the public, she continued to serve as the director of A.R.G.U.S.. Waller later received reports of an unidentified Metahuman causing destruction in Kahndaq, and contacted Carter Hall to apprehend him. Hall then led the Justice Society of America to capture the man known as "Teth-Adam", depowered him and brought him to A.R.G.U.S. custody. However, Adam soon escaped the facility and fought against Sabbac, much to Waller's frustration.[6]
After the defeat of Sabbac, Adam took over as the champion and hero of Kahndaq, alerting Waller and the rest of A.R.G.U.S.. Waller then sent a drone to warn Adam that if he were to step foot outside of Kahndaq, he would face consequences. Adam was not impressed by the threat and destroyed the drone, with Superman, working alongside Waller, arriving to issue a more convincing warning.[6]
