    Pennyworth, also known as Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman's Butler in the third season, is a television series based on the DC Comics character, Alfred Pennyworth.

    The series is developed by Bruno Heller and the first season premiered on July 28, 2019, on Epix. The second season premiered on December 13, 2020, and was the final season to air on Epix. The third season premiered on HBO Max on October 6, 2022. On February 21, 2023, the series was officially cancelled, concluding Pennyworth with a total of 30 episodes on November 24, 2022.[1]

    Pennyworth is set in the same continuity as Gotham, with an older Alfred Pennyworth appearing in the series portrayed by Sean Pertwee. The series also served as a prequel to the latter series and set two decades before the events of Gotham.[2][3][4][5]

    Synopsis[edit | hide | hide all]

    From Warner Horizon Scripted Television, the origin story Pennyworth is a drama series based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. It follows Bruce Wayne's legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier who forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne. Bruce's billionaire father, in 1960s London.
