Smallville is a television series based on the DC Comics character, Superman.
The series is developed by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who both served as showrunners. The first season premiered on October 16, 2001. The second, third and fourth premiered on September 24, 2002, October 1, 2003, and September 22, 2004, respectively, with the fifth premiering on September 29, 2005, as the final season to air on The WB. Starting with the sixth season, which premiered on September 28, 2006, the series aired on The CW. The seventh, eighth and ninth following the same format and premiering on September 28, 2007, September 27, 2007, September 28, 2008, and September 25, 2009, respectively. The tenth and final season premiered on September 24, 2010, and concluded on May 13, 2011, ending the series with 217 episodes in total.
During the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, Smallville was established to take place on Earth-167, replacing the previously designated "Earth-1" in Smallville: Season Eleven. Tom Welling and Erica Durance also reprised their roles as Clark Kent and Lois Lane respectively.
