    Quentin Lance (Earth-1: Pre-Crisis)

For a long time... I hated Oliver Queen. I blamed him for the death of my youngest daughter, I blamed him for the violence in my city, I interrogated him, I hunted him, persecuted him. I've never been more wrong in my life. Oliver Queen wasn't just a hero. He was a good man. He was an honorable person. The fact that he didn't start out that way makes him, in my book, even more honorable. He stands as a reminder to all of us that anyone can change.
    — Quentin Lance[src]

Quentin Larry Lance[16] is a former police captain in the Star City Police Department and the former mayor of Star City. Lance is also the ex-husband of Dinah Lance and the father of Laurel and Sara Lance.

    Early Life[edit | hide]

Quentin Larry Lance was born in 1962 in Starling City. Lance later grew up to become a police detective in the Starling City Police Department and had two daughters, Laurel and Sara.

    The Detective[edit | hide]

In 2012, Lance was tasked with unmasking and capturing the hooded vigilante. He was unable to successfully capture him and later realized that he was Oliver Queen, a friend of his daughters. Lance soon joined Queen's team as its police informant before leaving after Laurel's death at the hands of Damien Darhk.[4][17]

    Oliver's Funeral[edit | hide]

In 2020, Lance returned to Team Arrow after the Crisis restored his life. The resurrection did not bring his daughter back, though it ensured the survival of her Earth-2 doppelgänger. Laurel of Earth-2 questioned Queen's judgement and expressed her guilt to Lance, claiming that it was her fault that his daughter did not return. Lance comforted her and told her that he did not blame her and nothing about her was needed to be fixed.[4]

Lance, as the Mayor of Star City, soon gave a speech about Queen's contributions to the city and uncovered his statue. The following day, Lance attended Queen's funeral after expressing his wish for Rene Ramirez to take over the role of mayor.[4]
