===The Flame and the Frost=== |
In 2014, Leonard Snart acquired the Cold Gun and began a series of robberies in Central City. This caught the attention of The Flash, who used his speed and the assistance of his team to outsmart Snart's sophisticated plans, though often bargained their way out of Snart's threatening attacks. Eventually, Snart partnered with Mick Rory and gave him a handheld flamethrower. Both operated as Captain Cold and Heat Wave for years in the city under a "no killing" code and often encountered The Flash, both as enemies and allies. Although the encounters usually end with their imprisonment at Iron Heights Penitentiary, they repeatedly escaped over time and continued their criminal activities. |
Leonard Snart was a professional thief operating in Central City. His father was a cop, and he had learned from a young age to study the police to make sure he got away before they could respond. Leonard grew up resenting his father for the abuse he put him and his sister through. |
Before the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator explosion that released a wave of superpower-creating dark matter throughout Central City, Leonard Snart was a successful bank robber and thief. He operated for a time with Mick Rory before the two parted ways on good terms. Later, he would go on to work with Sam Scudder and Rosa Dillon, two thieves that did not share his desire for professionalism. |
On the night of the explosion, Snart went to confront Scudder and Dillon at their hide out for using their cut of the last heist too quickly, allowing for a greater chance to be caught by the cops. Scudder and Dillon did not like Snart's tight rules so they quit the team. Snart responded by fighting the two and preparing to execute Scudder with his handgun but was chased off when he saw the explosion in the sky. By leaving the two criminals beaten up in the hide out, the dark matter affected them, giving them superpowers, and trapping Scudder in the Mirror World for three years. |
===Becoming Captain Cold=== |
Snart obtained a specialized gun that shot out a focused beam of cold, which was stolen from S.T.A.R. Labs. He used it to rob the museum, and in his confrontation with the speedster he found his weakness: the need to save people. This allowed him the time to escape and plan his next move. |
===First Encounter with the Streak=== |
Snart decided to go after the Khandaq Diamond, which came to the city for an exhibit at the Central City Museum. He planned the heist to occur during transit, because it allowed him twice as much time before the police would arrive. He had not counted on the Streak, who got there much quicker. In the ensuing fight, Snart got away, but his foe left him dumbfounded. He studied the footage from the heist and discovered it was a fast-running man. He needed to up his game if he were to beat this foe. |
In order to lure out the streak, Snart feigned an escape on a busy train, out in the open. The trap was sprung. Leonard froze the wheels of the train using the gun, which meant the streak was too busy saving people to go after him. Tired from unloading the packed train, the speedster proved an easy target. However, before he could finish him, a team from S.T.A.R. lead by Cisco Ramon intervened, and threatened to unleash a bigger cold gun on him. He backed away, but escaped with the diamond. |
Some time later, in a Keystone City motel, Leonard met with an old accomplice of his, Mick Rory. Because the face of justice in the city had changed, they needed a new approach to villainy. He knew his old pyromaniac friend could not refuse the offer once he gave him a special heat gun.Going Rogue |

===Joining the Legion of Doom=== |

In November 2014, Snart was recruited by the Legion. |
Snart was recruited by Eobard Thawne to assist in his quest to obtain the mystical Spear of Destiny, a Biblical artifact that could rewrite reality. Snart would manipulate Mick into getting it for them, Together with Thawne, Damien Darhk, and Mick Rory, the Legion of Doom was formed, briefly creating the alternate reality known as Doomworld.Fellowship of the SpearDoomworld |

====The Legion Disbanding==== |
The Legends go back to 1916 to stop the Legion, |
Snart trys to manipulate future Mick, Rory ignores and Snart kills him, only to be knocked by Rory's heat gun, |
After Sara Lance depowered the Spear thus preventing their alternate reality, Snart would be sent back to his time and his memories would be wiped. |

===Finding out who the Flash is=== |
After their first mission, Palmer made breakfast as it was stolen by Snart. Palmer attempted to take the breakfast back before Carter Hall smashed the plate on with his mace. This woke Lance from her sleep, and Palmer approached her to clean the stain from her suit. Lance threatened to break his arm, while Snart defended Palmer and placed the blame on Hall. The four soon began to hold up their weapons at each other. Gideon ordered them to stop and intimidated them by promising to open the airlock to eject them to the Temporal Zone. |

Eventually, Snart set his sister Lisa to kidnap Dante and Cisco, Snart then has them hostage, Eventually him and Lisa mess around at a place only for the Flash to catch and stop them, Snart then warns Flash to keep his hands off his sister and that he has Cisco hostage, Snart then let's Cisco and Dante go if he tells him who the Flash, Cisco replies saying he doesn't know that he always wears a cowl, Snart then freezes Dante's hand saying that he won't be able to play the piano again and that his arms will have to be amputated unless Cisco tells him who the Flash, Cisco then tells him and Snart sets his free, then Dante would be treated. Snart and Rory and Lisa go biking and attacking a van, only for the Flash to speed him and then they have a talk where Barry warns Snart that he if tells anyone who he is that he will lock him up. |
After the first night on the Waverider, Snart informed Hunter that his decorative urn was used by Rory as a bedpan. The Legends soon argued about only having one bathroom on the vehicle. After Snart misfired a blast from his Cold Gun at Lance, the team began fighting each other violently. The fight was eventually broken up by Rip Hunter. |

===Family Business=== |
After the singularity event, Barry was approached by Lisa Snart. She had concerns that Leonard had been kidnapped. Lenny's position was tracked based on his Cold Gun pulling ultraviolet rays out of the air. When Barry approached Leonard, Barry was surprised to find Lenny was willingly working with his father on a robbery. Leonard then froze Flash with his Cold Gun and left with his father. |
Later, Barry learned that Lisa had been implanted with a bomb and theorized that Leonard was being forced to work with his father to save his sister's life. He approached Leonard as an undercover bomb technician to assist them in their next heist. When Barry told Leonard that the bomb had been successfully removed form his sister, Leonard quickly turned on his father and froze him with his cold gun. He was then brought to Iron Heights where Barry told him he was a criminal with a code. |

Snart would eventually be freed by Mark Mardon along with James Jesse thus refusing to work with them. |

===Joining the Legends=== |
In January 2016, Snart and Mick Rory were robbing a bank when they were driving Rip Hunter, a time traveling disgraced Time Master, who wanted their aid in hunting down the immortal tyrant Vandal Savage for killing his wife and child. Captain Cold and Heatwave were chosen because of their unimportance to their original timeline. |

Leonard Snart was a world-class criminal active in Central City and later reformed to be a Legend. He was nicknamed Captain Cold by Cisco Ramon due to his use of the Cold Gun.
Biography[edit | hide | hide all]
The Flame and the Frost[edit | hide]
In 2014, Leonard Snart acquired the Cold Gun and began a series of robberies in Central City. This caught the attention of The Flash, who used his speed and the assistance of his team to outsmart Snart's sophisticated plans, though often bargained their way out of Snart's threatening attacks. Eventually, Snart partnered with Mick Rory and gave him a handheld flamethrower. Both operated as Captain Cold and Heat Wave for years in the city under a "no killing" code and often encountered The Flash, both as enemies and allies. Although the encounters usually end with their imprisonment at Iron Heights Penitentiary, they repeatedly escaped over time and continued their criminal activities.[10]
Joining the Legion of Doom[edit | hide]
In November 2014, Snart was recruited by the Legion.
Recruited by Rip Hunter[edit | hide]
In 2015, Snart, alongside Mick Rory, Ray Palmer, Martin Stein, Jefferson Jackson, Kendra Saunders, Carter Hall and Sara Lance were recruited by Rip Hunter. They were then the founding members of the team known as the Legends of Tomorrow and defended the timeline.[11][12]

After the first night on the Waverider, Snart informed Hunter that his decorative urn was used by Rory as a bedpan. The Legends soon argued about only having one bathroom on the vehicle. After Snart misfired a blast from his Cold Gun at Lance, the team began fighting each other violently. The fight was eventually broken up by Rip Hunter.[13]
