For a long time, I fumbled with my powers. I doubted myself. But that's how we learn. And yeah, every time I fell, Dad picked me up. Just like every time you fall, I'm gonna pick you up too. Just remember what Dad always says: "No matter how fast you run, life is about the journey."
    — Nora West-Allen to Bart West-Allen[src]

Nora West-Allen is the daughter of Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen, the older sister of Bart West-Allen and the vigilante known as XS.

    Biography[edit | hide | hide all]

    Early Life[edit | hide]

In late October 2023, Nora West-Allen was born to Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen. Her parentage means that she inherited a natural connection to the Speed Force, which gives her various superhuman abilities, including the ability to run at superhuman speeds.[14]

    XS[edit | hide]

In 2049, Nora found out she had powers that were inherited from her father, Barry Allen, also known as The Flash. Later, after the death of her best friend, Lia Nelson, she became a vigilante known as "XS", the nickname given to her by her mother.[5]

She would become the mentee of Eobard Thawne, unaware of his full history with her family. Thawne convinced her to travel back in time to join Team Flash, in an attempt to stop her father from disappearing during the Crisis of 2024.[15]

In 2019, West-Allen was erased out of existence after returning from being sent to the future by her father[16] and left her journal behind. According to Wally West, she was seen in the Speed Force running with his kids and their descendants.[17]

In the current timeline, West-Allen's vigilante actions still exist and are shown in newspaper articles in 2021. However, she no longer has all the powers nor memories of her erased timeline self.[15] At some point, West-Allen met the Speed Force appearing as Nora Allen.[18] She referred to "her" as 'Big Nora' at times.

    The Godspeed Imperative[edit | hide]

    Back in Time[edit | hide]

    XS and Impulse
West-Allen family rule #1: Protect the timeline at any and all cost.
    — XS[src]

While fighting Godspeed in the city, West-Allen held Godspeed with a lasso as Bart "phased" through his body, knocking him unconscious. West-Allen scolded Bart for his impulsive and irresponsible behavior until Godspeed woke up. They chased him across the city and found him at the Flash Museum. Godspeed opened a portal using the Cosmic Treadmill and went to 2021. Despite hesitating for several seconds, West-Allen ran into the portal anyway and travelled from 2049 to 2021 alongside his brother, Bart West-Allen, during the Godspeed War.[15] Once there, she met her father in the Speed Lab and reassured him that she is the proof that everything works out before introducing her brother to Barry.[14]

    The Adversary[edit | hide]

The West-Allen siblings meet their mother

In 2021, West-Allen and Bart were informed by their father that August Heart had no memory and kept in S.T.A.R. Labs. They then met Cecile Horton and Caitlin Snow, who they greeted. Chester P. Runk then expressed his admire on Bart's battle against Godspeed as West-Allen rolled her eyes. West-Allen and Bart then had lunch in the lounge and saw their father looking at them. As they talked to each other about the timeline changes, they were interrupted by an alarm about Godspeed fighting near City Hall.[15]

The Flash family then ran to the site of conflict and Allen ordered both West-Allen and Bart to run in different directions. However, the clones did not follow West-Allen nor her father, but rather followed "The Adversary", Bart West-Allen. Luckily, the clones had to recharge in the Speed Force and Bart survived the battle.[15]

After Bart ran away out of rage that Allen refused to let him fight, West-Allen found him in the living room and talked to him about their past. West-Allen reminded Bart that his impulsive actions might lead to his death, quoting Jay Garrick that Bart should "put down his hat". The two then returned to S.T.A.R. Labs and West-Allen left with Allen to fight Godspeeds with the SEE. West-Allen and Allen were defeated as the SEE was charged with kinetic energy from Allen's lightning, causing a boost in Godspeeds' powers and allowing them to defeat them easily. When Bart ran to rescue Garrick from the Godspeed clones, he was overwhelmed and captured. West-Allen and Allen then arrived and saw Bart being tortured by the lead Godspeed, and quickly rescued him from the pain. West-Allen, Allen and Garrick were surrounded until Cisco Ramon rescued the speedsters from danger.[15]

All Hands on Deck[edit | hide]

    Flash Family

Seeing her brother in a coma, West-Allen started becoming emotional and thought everything was falling apart. Caitlin Snow reassured her that everything was fine and West-Allen then met the Speed Force. "She" boosted West-Allen's speed, alongside Allen, Garrick and gave Iris temporary powers. The family of speedsters then joined forces, fighting against the Godspeed Army. West-Allen tripped multiple Godspeeds with her lightning lasso and defeated them. However, the Godspeeds soon took the upper hand and recharged by the Speed Force, who was in close proximity with them and had a strong connection with them. The family then retreated to S.T.A.R. Labs.[18]

Hours later, West-Allen and the rest of the team witnessed the return of Reverse-Flash, who agreed to fight Godspeed in exchange for a physical body. A week after the defeat of Godspeed, West-Allen attended the vow renewal ceremony of her parents.[18]

    Powers[edit | hide]

    • Speed Force Connection: West-Allen is the daughter of Barry Allen, a speedster, inheriting her father's genes and organic connection to the Speed Force.[13]
      • Accelerated Healing Factor: West-Allen is able to heal from extreme injuries in a short period of time due to her superhuman metabolism, albeit limited to non-fatal injuries.[19]
      • Electrokinesis: West-Allen produces small purple and yellow lightning trails behind her when she runs at superhuman speed.[10] With the timeline being rewritten, West-Allen now only has purple lightning trails, with her brother having yellow lightning trails.[14][6]
        • Electrical Constructs: West-Allen is able to create a lasso made with her Speed Force lightning.[18]
        • Speed Force Aura: West-Allen is protected by an aura of invisible energy, protecting her from burning due to extreme friction and from gravitational forces. The aura can also be expanded and withstand the gravitational pull of a black hole, while protecting its user from being injured or destroyed. The aura was also shown to be able to protect those being carried by West-Allen, protecting them from the extreme friction produced from superhuman speed.[1]
      • Superhuman Agility: West-Allen is able to balance off unstable constructs while running at superhuman speed, allowing her to easily maneuver on obstacles.[20]
      • Superhuman Durability: West-Allen is able to withstand extreme forces and attacks with little to no injuries. However, she is still vulnerable to bullets and swords, which are able to pierce his skin.[2][20]
      • Superhuman Momentum: West-Allen is able to generate and withstand extreme kinetic energy. She is also able to stop completely even running at the speed of light.[21]
      • Superhuman Senses: West-Allen is able to hear sounds even after exceeding the speed of sound, which no sounds can be heard normally.[22]
      • Superhuman Speed: West-Allen is able to run at superhuman speed and easily exceed the speed of light through Thawne's training. The superhuman speed grants her multiple additional powers.[13][5]
        • Accelerated Perception: West-Allen is able to perceive actions and words that appeared for a brief moment. For her to communicate with humans, she is able to shift the perception level according to her will.[22]
        • Aerokinesis: West-Allen is able to move his bodies at superhuman speed and create vortexes, cyclones, tornadoes and vacuums of air.
        • Bodily Vibration: By vibrating at superhuman speed, West-Allen is able to vibrate at the same frequency as air.[2]
          • Intangibility: Also known as "phasing", West-Allen has the ability to walk through solid objects by vibrating at the frequency of air.[2]
        • Superhuman Reflexes: West-Allen is able to respond to attacks quickly, including a speeding bullet and physical contacts.[2]
        • Time Travel: By running faster than the speed of light, West-Allen is able to break the space-time barrier and open a portal to the Speed Force, allowing her to run across time with flashes of images passing through him in the vortex.[2]
      • Superhuman Stamina: West-Allen is able to run for an extended period of time with no signs of exhaustion.[23]
      • Superhuman Strength: While running at superhuman speed, West-Allen is able to carry heavy objects and even drag an individual around easily.[20]

    Former Powers[edit | hide]

    • Negative Speed Force Connection: By tapping into her negative emotions, West-Allen gained a connection to the Negative Speed Force, allowing her to travel through time without being noticed by her father.[5][24] In the rewritten timeline, during the brief time possessed by the cobalt crystal, West-Allen also gained a connection to the Negative Speed Force.[25]
      • Voice Modulation: When vibrating at a certain frequency, West-Allen can modulate her voices to a point where normal humans are unable to identify her.[11]

    Erased Timeline Powers[edit | hide]

    • Temporal Regression: In the erased timeline, West-Allen was able to rewind time for a short period of time.[13]

    Abilities[edit | hide]

    • Hand-to-Hand Combat: West-Allen was trained by Barry Allen to fight his opponents using her superhuman speed.[15]

    Erased Timeline Abilities[edit | hide]

    • Bilingualism: Presumably taught by Eobard Thawne, West-Allen became familiar in the Time Language aside from her native English.[21]
    • Genius-level Intellect: Like her father, West-Allen possesses a high-level intellect and is capable of understanding complex concepts.[5]
      • Chemistry: West-Allen folllowed in her father's footsteps in becoming a forensic scientist, making her an exceptional chemist.[2]

    Weaknesses[edit | hide]

    • Cold Temperature: West-Allen's speed can be severly dampened under low temperatures. This is due to the nature of his speed relating to the building-up of heat in atoms. West-Allen is capable in overcoming such weakness by allowing lightning to flow through his body to generate heat.[24]
    • Negative Tachyons: To hinder her speed to a point where she could appear as unable to travel through time, Wes-Allen injected herself with Negative Tachyons.[2]
    • Power-Dampening Technology: Like other Metahumans, West-Allen cannot access his powers when in close contact with a power-dampening device.[11]
