“ | It's called a Waverider. Waverider? Oh, because it's shaped like a boat, like it rides on the waves. No, though it can go underwater. But never mind that, Waverider is what it's called in the futuristic blueprints I was given. It's a Timeship. |

Waverider, designated WR-2059 and nicknamed the Rogue Waverider by the Legends of Tomorrow,[1] is a replica of the original Waverider created by Bishop to seek revenge on the Legends.
History
Lost Memories
After being kidnapped by the Legends of Tomorrow to battle his future self, Bishop of 2212's memories were erased using the Memory Flasher.[2] A year later, Bishop started having memory flashes of his encounter and successfully opened a futuristic hard drive, discovering that he actually replicated Gideon from the original Waverider before his memories were erased. Afterwards, Bishop rebooted Gideon to factory settings and began his course of building a Timeship based on blueprints supplied by Gideon.[3][4]
Creation
In 2214, Bishop successfully completed the Waverider using billions of dollars. Gideon was installed on the Waverider using 23rd century and Bishop introduced Assistant Ava to the vessel. They then entered the Temporal Zone as Bishop impulsively destroyed the original Waverider in Odessa, 1925. Unfortunately, the action led to more aberrations to occur subsequently. Gideon, based on her original programming to protect the timeline, advised Bishop to restore the timeline. Bishop then combined clone technology and Gideon's advanced technology to create a J. Edgar Hoover robot to replace the deceased J. Edgar Hoover.[4]
Despite his initial success, the Legends discovered the Hoover-Bots and destroyed the original robot, later decoding the second one and accidentally causing Thomas Edison's heart attack as well as his death. During the process, Gideon ejected Assistant Ava to the Temporal Zone to prevent her interference to Bishop's mission to protect the timeline. Bishop was then given a sedative while Gideon sent the third Hoover-Bot and the first Edison-Bot to preserve the timeline integrity.[4]
Out of anger and fear, Bishop soon realized his life was replaced with one of his robots. He then escaped through the toilet and landed on Gwyn Davies' time machine, sending both the Legends and Bishop to an unknown point in time.[4]

Overview
Compartments
- Bridge: The bridge is where the ship is piloted from the control console for the captain's chair. At the front of the ship, the bridge has viewports that allow the crew to see the outside or view the temporal zone. It also has a central console where Gideon can talk to the crew.[4]
- Parlour: The office is where many of the missions are discussed and later altered by Bishop as a dining room.[4]
- Cargo Bay/Armory: The cargo bay is a room that is often used to store various equipment. The bay also has a door hatch that is used for entering and exiting the ship.[4]
- Fabricator Room: A fabricator is located in the room which could fabricate clothing from different time periods.[5]
- Server Room/Laboratory/Infirmary: The laboratory consists of advanced technology and holds a containment platform.[4]
- Medical Bay: Although the ship is not crewed with humans, the Waverider was created according to its original design, keeping the medical bay with its technology identical.[6]
- Galley and Dining Room: The galley is equipped with food and drinks for the crew. The galley also has its own food fabricator capable of making food and drinks for the crew.[4]
- Lavatory: The Waverider consists of only one bathroom and was altered by Bishop to hold a toilet that could serve as an emergency escape route.[4]
- Crew Quarters: Keeping its original design, the Waverider consists of multiple quarters for its crew, with one of them redesigned as merely a resting room.[6]
- "Library": Originally intended to be the Waverider's library, the compartment was converted as Zari Tarazi's room for her hacking.[7]
Additional Vessels
- Waverider Jump Ship: A smaller separate detachable ship that the crew can either use to go on reconnaissance missions, drop-offs, or just to travel to two separate places at once.[6]
Functions
- Time Travel: The ship is capable of time travelling back in time to any point of the timeline by the use of a Time Drive and through powering up the Time Core.[4]
- Flight: The ship is able to fly at an exceptional speed with the use of powerful thrusters.[4]
- Oxygen Supply: As the ship usually situates in the Temporal Zone, the ship has to supply oxygen for its passengers [4] with Gideon in charge of the decompression.[6]
- Gravity Generation: The ship can create gravitational force to simulate the environment of Earth.[4]
Systems
A.I. System
The Waverider included an Artificial Intelligence known as Gideon. Gideon controlled the navigation, systems, and other sections of the ship.[4]
Weapons System
- Missiles: The Waverider includes a series of missiles that could easily penetrate other Timeships and destroy them completely, leaving only shrapnel on the ground.[2]
Scanning System
The ship contains cameras and microphones in the interior and exterior of the hull except for the lavatory, able to monitor crewmate's quarters and the environment. The scanning system is capable of monitoring the Temporal Zone, informing the crew of a Time Aberration.[4]
Medical System
The ship consists of a medical bay which treats injured crewmates and civilians using futuristic technology. A Flesh Printer is also installed in the medical bay, capable of restoring severed limbs and fixing major injuries.[6]
