Malcolm Merlyn, born Arthur King,[25] better known as the Dark Archer, was an enemy of the Green Arrow and later the Legends of Tomorrow. Merlyn was also the father of Tommy Merlyn and Thea Queen.

Early Life[edit | hide]
At some point, Malcolm Merlyn had a son named Tommy, and later had a daughter in his affair with Moira Queen, named Thea.[24]
Queen's Gambit[edit | hide]
In 2007, as a part of his Undertaking, Merlyn sabotaged Robert Queen's yacht, the Queen's Gambit. The Gambit sank in the North China Sea, with Oliver Queen being one of the few survivors of the incident.[24][26]
Emerald Archer[edit | hide]
Five years later, Merlyn's Undertaking entered its final phases. However, his plans were discovered and foiled by the actions of Oliver Queen, who returned to Star City as the vigilante known as the Arrow.[24][26]
Quest for the Spear of Destiny[edit | hide]

Years after his defeat, Merlyn was recruited by Eobard Thawne to assist in his quest to obtain the mystical Spear of Destiny, a Biblical artifact that could rewrite reality. Together with Thawne, Damien Darhk, Leonard Snart and Mick Rory, the Legion of Doom was formed, briefly creating the alternate reality known as Doomworld. Unfortunately, the reality did not last long, with Rory betraying the team for the Legends and Merlyn was placed back to his original place in time.[27]

- Genius-level Intellect: Merlyn had demonstrated his expertise in a variety of fields, from chemistry, to business, to the occult, making him one of the most intelligent foes of the Green Arrow over his tenure.[28]
- Business Acumen: Merlyn led his company, Merlyn Global Group, to success, even on par with Queen Consolidated.[13]
- Occult Knowledge: Since his time in the League of Assassins, Merlyn had been an individual familiar with the occult. Throughout the years, he had become an expert in Lazarus Pits and Dark Magic.[29][30]
- Prestidigitation: Merlyn is skilled in stage magic, which granted him the name of "Al Sah-her"[3] in the League of Assassins.[31]
- Toxicology: Merlyn taught Thea Queen in identifying cyanide in red wine.[29]
- Marksmanship: While firearms were not Merlyn's preferred weapon of choice,[32] he remained skillful at wielding them against his enemies, even with superb accuracy.[33]
- Peak Physical Condition: Having been trained by the League of Assassins, Merlyn acquired an exceptional physique for a person of his age, making him a keen opponents to much younger ones.[28]
- Archery: Merlyn was an experienced archer, with skills even surpassing Oliver Queen.[28]
- Hand-to-Hand Combat: Merlyn possessed exceptional combat skills, making him one of the top member of the League of Assassins.[34]
- Knife-Fighting: In a duel with Sara Lance, Merlyn was nearly able to defeat her while wielding a short blade.[19]
- Stick-Fighting: Merlyn often repurposed his bow as a staff in combat, defeating multiple members of League of Assassins in combat.[5]
- Swordsmanship: Despite leaving the League of Assassins, Merlyn remained active in practicing his swordsmanship in his spare time.[10]

- Demon's Head Ring: When Merlyn took the position of Ra's al Ghul, he wore the Demon's Head Ring. However, with his hand cut off and the ring passed on to Nyssa al Ghul, Merlyn no longer possesses it.[5]
- Energy Gun: Merlyn was provided an Energy Gun when working with Eobard Thawne and Damien Darhk.[35]
- League Armor: While operating as a member of the League of Assassins and later as the Dark Archer, Merlyn wore a black masked and hooded protective suit.[36]
- Bow and Arrow: Since his training in the League, Merlyn had been wielding bow and arrow as his preferred weapon of choice.[32]
- Cybernetic Hand: After having his hand cut off by Oliver Queen, Merlyn replaced it with an advanced HIVE-made cybernetic hand.[37]
- Swords: Merlyn wielded various swords in combat including scimitars, katanas and a dao.[38]
