    Assistant District Attorney Dinah Laurel Lance was a vigilante in Star City known as the Black Canary. Lance was also the daughter of Quentin and Dinah Lance, the sister of Sara Lance, and the wife of Tommy Merlyn.

    At some point, Laurel Lance married Tommy Merlyn.[12]

    Death

    In 2016, Lance was murdered by Damien Darhk.[14] Her mantle was later passed onto Dinah Drake and her former Earth-2 doppelgänger.[12]

    Crisis on Infinite Earths

    During the Crisis, Lance was not among those deceased brought back by Oliver Queen when the Paragons recreate the Multiverse. The action was questioned by her former Earth-2 doppelgänger and was then answered by her father.[12]

    Powers and Abilities

    Abilities

    • Hand-to-Hand Combat: Lance received extensively training from former boxer and vigilante, Ted Grant. As a result, Lance became proficient in defending himself through close combat and capable of defeating criminals, assassins and mercenaries with ease.[15]
      • Stick Fighting: Initially donning her sister's style in combat, Lance usually wielded a bo-staff in the field.[9] However, as she grew to became her own, she began utilizing a pair of tactical tonfas in the field and was able to use it against highly trained enemies.[16]
    • High-level Intellect: Lance had previously completed years of study in the legal field and was shown to be a capable attorney, having been offered the position of the Assistant District Attorney of Star City.[7]
      • Investigation: Even prior to becoming a vigilante, Lance had already been a keen detective. After being told Oliver Queen was the Green Arrow, Lance put together evidence to back Slade Wilson's claims, even discovering her sister to be the identity of the Canary.[9]
      • Legal Knowledge: Lance was an experienced attorney and had a deep understanding in the legal field.[1]

    Equipment

    Former Equipment

    • Black Canary Suit: As Black Canary, Lance wore a black leather protective suit.[9]
      • Blonde Wig: Adopting her sister's style, Lance wore a blonde wig in the field to conceal her identity before abandoning it.[9]
    • Bo-Staff: Lance initially wielded a bo-staff in the field, similar to her sister, before switching for a pair of tactical tonfas.[9]
    • Canary Cry: Created by Cisco Ramon, Lance utilized a mobile sonic device in the field.[17]
    • Sonic Device: Prior to acquiring the Canary Cry, Lance wielded Sara's Sonic Device in the field.[9]
    • Team Arrow Motorcycles: As a member of Team Arrow, Lance drove one of their motorcycles to travel across great distances.[18]
    • Tonfas: Lance's weapon of choice is a pair of tactical tonfas.[18]
