    Aleister Crowley (Earth-1: Pre-Crisis)

For other uses of Constantine, see Constantine (Disambiguation).

Out there in the cosmos, in the great beyond, there's an unlimited source of power.
    — Aleister Crowley[src]

Aleister Crowley is a renowned warlock, Satanist, and alien enthusiast locked in a portrait in John Constantine's attic.

    Biography[edit | hide | hide all]

Search for the Fountain[edit | hide]

In 1939, I took a rather large dose and fell into a trance, where an extraterrestrial dictated the map to me. Pity he didn't speak English. I might've discovered where in the heavens the Fountain was hidden.
    — Crowley on his past[src]

For the most of his life, Crowley searched for the Fountain of Imperium and wrote the Book of the Law.[4]

In 1939, Crowley took his Magic-enhancing potion and fell into a trance. He then encountered an alien, who gave him a map to the Fountain of Imperium. However, the alien did not speak English, and he was unable to accurately locate the Fountain, which was on Earth for the whole time.[3]

Summoned by John Constantine[edit | hide]

At some point, John Constantine summoned Crowley from Hell. After acquiring his required information on aliens, Constantine locked Crowley in a portrait and banished him to his attic.[1]

    The Satanist's Apprentice[edit | hide]

Later, Crowley approached Astra Logue when she attempted to search for valuable items in order to pay for bills. Crowley tempted Logue to teach her how to use the Permuto and gain power on Earth. Logue then brought the painting of Crowley and learned the basic level of the transformation spell. However, Crowley also taught her about how the spell could exchange positions of spirits, while Logue refused as it would endanger her safety. Constantine then arrived back to the manor and argued with Crowley. Logue was annoyed by them and exchanged their positions. Crowley proceeded his lessons and taught Logue on more advanced levels of magic. She later realized that the spells are temporary while Crowley tempted her with more power.[1]

While Constantine attempted to wake Logue from the power, Crowley approached Constantine and locked him to the attic. The satanist and the apprentice then forged the amulet for more power. Crowley asked Logue to acquire a living soul, as she asked her neighbor. However, she changed her mind at the last second. Crowley quickly interrupted and took the soul for himself, powering himself strong enough to withstand Logue's transformation spell. Crowley conjured a spell and sent the entire house into cartoon, turning Logue into a princess.[1]

    Crowley teleports

Crowley was disappointed by the fact that Logue was not a witch and fought her, teleporting himself and dodged her. Logue then summoned the Legends while they fought against Crowley. Unfortunately, they failed and Crowley locked them on the ground using his conjurations.[1]

    Crowley defeated

Hours later, Logue reproached Crowley with the Expulsion Spell and cleansed him of magic. Thanks to his amulet, Crowley was able to overpower the spell and transformed himself into a giant demonic monster. Eventually, Logue's spell was effective and restored Crowley back to his spiritual form, switching Crowley and Constantine's positions back.[1]

Constantine then locked the portrait back to the attic, with Crowley tempting Constantine with the Fountain of Imperium and Constantine refusing quickly. Logue slowly entered and placed Crowley in a box, preventing him from tempting any more people with power.[1]
