    Jordan Mahkent (Earth-2: Post-Crisis)

You seem to think that power comes from other people's perception of you. From recognition or applause, but... That's not true power. Now, William, true power doesn't need to be seen. I've travelled across this country. I've hunted down everybody who played a part in Christine's death. Everybody who exposed her to the toxin that led her to get sick. And I did this because I, too, made a promise, William, to my wife as she lay dying in my bed that I would combat injustice for our son, for everyone's children.
    — Jordan Mahkent to William Zarick[src]

Jordan Mahkent is a descendant of a powerful Norwegian family which possesses ice-based abilities from ancestors from Niflheim. Mahkent was also the supervillain known as Icicle, and the founder of both the Injustice Society of America and The American Dream.

    Early Life[edit source]

    Mahkent's arrest record

Jordan Mahkent was born to Sofus and Lily Mahkent in Norway.[2] However, Sofus and Lily soon brought their young son to the United States, hoping to evade those hunting their family for their dangerous ice-based abilities.[3]

    Marriage and Family[edit source]

At some point, Mahkent was in London when he first saw Christine in Trafalgar Square, who he quickly became attracted to. He would watch her sketch as they both ate lunch in the same park, but he was nervous to speak to her as there was already another man pursuing her. After killing this man, he finally gained the courage to speak to her, at which point she showed him drawings she had made of him as she was also attracted to him and was waiting for him to approach her. The pair later got married and had a son together named Cameron Mahkent.[4]

Fall of the Golden Age[edit source]

    Battle of Los Angeles[edit source]

    Battle of Los Angeles

On December 24, 2010, Mahkent and the rest of the Injustice Society lured the Justice Society into a trap at an abandoned mansion after discovering that Brainwave had started to question their mission due to seeing the world through his wife's eyes. During the battle, Mahkent impaled Starman with an icicle, but he managed to get out of the mansion with the help of Stripesy. The Injustice Society then went outside and Mahkent ordered Solomon Grundy to follow their car, but they managed to escape.[5]

    Vengeance for Christine[edit source]

    Christine Mahkent

Christine worked at a public school which, unbeknownst to everyone but Bannerman Chemicals, had been built atop a former chemical waste dumping site, which resulted in her developing cancer.[6] In 2012, Christine was lying on her deathbed and said her final goodbye to Cameron before telling Mahkent to continue his mission and asking him to promise to destroy anyone who gets in his way. She then died in front of him, which resulted in Mahkent running out of the house and into the garden, where he let out a scream and froze his surroundings.[2] He then left Blue Valley and handed over leadership of the ISA to William Zarick so that he could travel across the country in search of the people responsible for making his wife sick, leaving Cameron to be raised by his grandparents. On his journey, he also observed many small towns which had been forgotten about such as Littleville, Colorado and Hatton Corners, Indiana.[2]

After Christine's death, Mahkent founded American Dream as a way to reshape the United States in his image, naming his plan Project: New America.[2]

    Return to Blue Valley[edit source]

In 2020, Brainwave called Mahkent, who was at a graveyard in London, to inform him that someone had attacked his son with the Cosmic Staff, meaning that there must be a new Starman. Mahkent was doubtful of this and told King that they will sort it out and to do nothing until he returned.[5]

The next night, Mahkent returned to Blue Valley just after Brainwave's defeat at the hands of Stargirl. He arrived in a black car outside American Dream and went inside, pressing his hand on a hidden screen on the wall which opened a door to a tunnel system. He walked through, past Solomon Grundy, who was locked behind a metal door, to the ISA's headquarters where he was met by Steve Sharpe. Sharpe showed him footage of the person who defeated Brainwave, and he stated that he killed one Starman and that he could kill another.[7]

    Powers and Abilities[edit source]

    Powers[edit source]

    Mahkent transforms into Icicle
    • Cryophysiology: Mahkent inherited his family's ice-based abilities, which were allegedly blessed by ancestors from Niflheim.[8]
      • Cryokinesis: Mahkent is able to manipulate water-based substances and convert them into different forms, being able to create snow, slush, hail and icicles.
        • Ice Breath/Superhuman Breath: When Mahkent utilizes his abilities, cold air is emitted from his mouth. This ability can be performed in a greater scale, freezing objects from a great distance or generating gusts of wind.[2]
        • Reforming: After being shattered by an accelerating vehicle, Mahkent's ice form was melted under the heat of the sun and unconsciously entered the utility system. Over the following year, Mahkent used his love for his family to work towards reforming his body, though had no control over himself as he was in a state of dreams. Despite his success, Mahkent was severely weakened in his physical condition and relied on his abilities to remain alive.[9]
        • Thermokinesis: Mahkent has the ability to significantly lower the temperature of an area he is present in.[2]
      • Transformation: Mahkent was able to cover his body in a thick layer of ice which was capable of deflecting enemy attacks.[2]

    Abilities[edit source]

    Weaknesses[edit source]

    • Cryogenic Form: While his cryogenic form gave him a series of superhuman abilities, it also left him vulnerable to strong forces, as shown when Mike Dugan shattered his icicle form by hitting him with an accelerating pickup truck.[10]

    Equipment[edit source]

    Former Equipment[edit source]

    • Icicle Suit: While Mahkent can conceal his identity with a mask of ice, he still wore a protective suit to protect himself from his opponents in combat.[2]
