Steel Suits, or the Citizen Steel Suits, are a series of protective suit used by Nate Heywood as Steel, and his android counterpart as Citizen Steel.

Becoming Steel[edit | hide]
In 2017, prior to the Dominator Invasion, Nate Heywood acquired superhuman abilities from the Biomolecular Enhancer and was able to cover his skin with a steel coating. Hoping to honor his grandfather, Henry Heywood, Commander Steel, Heywood donned a costume similar to his grandfather's and began operating as "Steel", and a field member of the Legends of Tomorrow.[1]
As Steel, Heywood wore the suit in battle against a series of adversaries, including time-travelling Nazi clones, Neron and the Encores. Heywood also wore the suit in commercials, after the Battle of Heyworld began a global phenomenon. Unfortunately, the suit was later destroyed alongside the rest of the Waverider when Bishop went back in time seeking revenge.[1][2][3][4]
Citizen Steel[edit | hide]

When Gideon created her own team of Legends including an android replica of Heywood. With an altered physique, Gideon created a replica of the original Steel Suit and Heywood began operating as "Citizen Steel".[5]
Possible Future[edit | hide]
In 2049, Heywood, despite losing his powers decades prior, was seen in the field with his costume and operating as Steel once more.[6]

Functions[edit | hide]
- Advanced Durability: Being an extra layer of protection for its users, the Steel Suit is capable of withstanding both standard firearms and advanced ones from distant future.[7]
Former Functions[edit | hide]
- Identity Concealment: The original design of the suit included a red helmet, which covered most of Heywood's face. However, by the time of the Earth-X Invasion, he had abandoned the helmet and no longer wore it in the field.[1]
