I was happy, floating, staring at the stars.
    — Starro's last words[src]

Starro, derisively nicknamed Starro the Conqueror by Gaius Grieves, was a starfish-like alien that was captured and imprisoned in Jotunheim for over 30 years.

    Biography[edit | hide | hide all]

    Early Life[edit | hide]

In 1991, Starro was floating in space and encountered NASA astronauts. It was then brought to the space station and took a photo with the astronauts. However, Starro released a series of extensions that latched on their faces, causing chaos on the space station. It was soon brought back to Earth and was seen as a potential weapon for the United States.[1]

Thirty years he's kept me here. Tortured me. Had his way with me.
    — "Star-Crossed Man"[src]

Over the later years, the U.S. Government Research Laboratory hired Dr. Gaius Grieves and sent Starro to Jotunheim, a Nazi-built facility in Corto Maltese. Grieves then spent the next 30 years researching and torturing on the creature.[1]

    The Suicide Squad[edit | hide]

In 2021, Amanda Waller recruited Bloodsport, Peacemaker, King Shark, Ratcatcher 2 and Polka-Dot Man to Task Force X in order to destroy all traces of Project Starfish. They then stormed Jotunheim with Starro asking if they were there to rescue itself from captivity. During the attack, a series of explosives was set off accidentally and released Starro from his cage. Outraged and revengeful, Starro tangled Grieves with its tentacles and ripped his body apart, killing him and successfully revenged on its captor.[1]

Starro quickly demolished Jotunheim and released its extensions to Corto Malteseans, causing an infection and invasion on the island. Task Force X then turned back to fight Starro, with Bloodsport assembling a powerful firearm to attract the creature's attention. The team soon followed Bloodsport's orders and stood in respective positions, with King Shark biting Starro and Polka releasing a series of acidic polka-dots to digest one of Starro's legs. However, Starro was able to squish Polka when the team did not pay attention.[1]

Later, Starro grabbed King Shark and sent him flying to a building. Harley Quinn then leaped to Starro's eye as Ratcatcher 2 summoned the rodents of Corto Maltese to feast on Starro. As a result, Starro's eye filled up with blood as he died, claiming he was happy before being captured to Earth.[1]
