The Hourman Suit is a protective suit used by the late Rex Tyler and later his son, Rick Tyler, as the vigilante, Hourman.
History[edit | hide | hide all]
Golden Age[edit | hide]
When Rex Tyler became the vigilante known as Hourman, he began wearing a protective suit to protect himself and conceal his identity. The suit was used until he was killed alongside his wife in the hands of Solomon Grundy, with Pat Dugan retrieving the suit and placing it on display at the JSA headquarters for years.[1][2][3]
A New Generation[edit | hide]
Ten years later, while Courtney Whitmore was brought to witness the legacy of the Justice Society of America, she stole multiple gadgets and suits from the building, including the Hourman Suit, Doctor Mid-Nite Suit, Wildcat Suit, Starheart Lantern, and the Thunderbolt.[2]
Using the stolen gadgets, Whitmore attempted to reform the Justice Society, later giving the hourglass to Tyler's son, Rick. Rick did not agree to Whitmore's offer to become a hero like the rest of the team, but instead abused his abilities to seek revenge. Rick was soon told by Beth Chapel and the Doctor Mid-Nite A.I. that the death of his parents was not an accident, but the result of Grundy's attack. Rick reluctantly accepted Whitmore's offer, though for revenge, and not justice. The suit was given to Rick soon afterwards, allowing him to succeed his father as the new Hourman.[3][4]
