Dr. Anissa Pierce is the vigilante daughter of Black Lightning known as Thunder. She also uses the moniker Blackbird occasionally.

- Density Manipulation: When holding her breath, Pierce is able to increase her density and allow her to withstand bullets. This ability was also replicated in her second suit with it being able to stay in an invulnerable form to protect Pierce despite her not holding in her breath.
- Superhuman Durability: Pierce is capable of withstanding bullet shots when holding her breath.
- Superhuman Strength: Pierce is capable of generating a strong force from her body, capable of demolishing concrete walls with a single punch.
- Shockwaves: Pierce has the ability to create shockwaves from her body when holding her breath.
- Thunderclap: With her exceptional strength, Pierce is capable of creating a strong clap from her hands and sending a powerful force to her surroundings.

- Hand-to-Hand Combat: Pierce was trained to be a skilled combatant, allowing her to battle her opponents with ease.
- Medical Knowledge: Pierce studied medicine and became a doctor at Center for Gene Therapy & Genetic Research.
- Investigation: Though not a professional detective, Pierce was shown to be a decent investigator while working as a vigilante.
- Chemistry: Pierce was able to assist her mother to create a serum against Looker's powers.[14]
Weaknesses[edit | hide]
- Breath Control: When Pierce could not hold her breath, she does not possess any durability or strength, making her extremely vulnerable. However, her second suit replicated her abilities to protect her without the need of holding her breath.
- DEGs: When hit with next generation DEGs, Pierce's powers are unable to protect from the damage, causing injuries on her body and inflect pain.[5]

- Thunder Suit: Pierce initially wore a black and yellow protective suit as Thunder, though was given an upgraded version in purple and blue, installed with nanotechnology.
- Blackbird Suit: As a member of Freeland Resistance, Pierce wore a black hooded protective suit as Blackbird.
