Kal-El is a former media personality and the superhero known as Superman. After falling out with his family, El travelled to a parallel universe and hoped to prevent Ally Allston from achieving Ascension, later nicknamed Bizarro. El's mission led to his demise in the hands Mitch Anderson, and his corpse was later retrieved by Intergang and subsequently stolen by Lex Luthor. After a month of continuous torture and resurrection, El's body was transformed into a gigantic monstrous being with the ability to regenerate from any wounds, becoming stronger in the process. With El in his possession, Luthor utilized him in a seemingly never-ending battle with Superman.

Biography

Brotherhood

At some point. Kal-El's sister-in-law, Lana-Rho, attempted to kill him and his family. This caused his close brotherhood with his brother Tal-Rho to fall apart as they became enemies.

The Pendant

At some point before summer 2020, Kal-El attacked the DOD facility and forcibly took the powerful pendant from Ally Allston. Afterward, he powered his suit with the pendant and sped up while flying, crashing into the Shuster Mines and opening a portal to another universe.

The Thing in the Mines

For days, Kal-El was trapped in the Shuster Mines of the new universe, and his attempts to escape caused earthquakes in Smallville. This drew the attention of AmerTek, who sent several employees into the mines to investigate, all of whom were killed by Kal-El.

Kal-El later escaped the mines and fought Superman and Steel, during which time he asked them to "leave him alone" backwards. He and Superman then began to experience painful visions, which caused Kal-El to fly away to the Fortress of Solitude. He then removed his armor to reveal his mirrored suit, before saying the word "home" backwards.

Bizarre

Some time later, Kal-El flew to the Kent Farm, where he briefly fought Superman and Irons before fleeing to Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia. Once there, he fought the Supermen of America, killing two members before Superman arrived. The pair then fought each other until Irons arrived and attempted to help to use his hammer. However, this resulted in him being struck hard enough to be hospitalized before Kal-El fled.

Despite his pendant taken by Tag Harris, Kal-El continued his mission to save his doppelgänger's world, starting with killing the members of Inverse Society. After the murder of Kit Faulkner, Kal-El turned to attack the leader of the group, Ally Allston. Unfortunately, Lois Lane called for the help of Superman. Kal-El and Superman dueled once more, while the latter did not understand his reversed speeches. Kal-El was eventually knocked unconscious and brought to the fortress.

Later that day, Superman returned to interrogate Kal-El, with the Lara Lor-Van A.I. translating Kal-El's reversed speeches. Kal-El claimed that he was needed to kill Ally Allston in order to save both his and Superman's world.

Death

While Kal-El and Superman no longer fight each other, Mitch Anderson remained vengeful over the death of two soldiers of his team. Anderson then followed Superman and Tal-Rho to the fortress and attacked them with X-Kryptonite. Unfortunately, Superman and Tal-Rho were unable to stop a furious Anderson. The Lor-Van A.I. then released Kal-El from his forcefield, allowing him to combat Anderson. Anderson attempted to shoot him with Green Kryptonite, not knowing inverse Kryptonians do not react to the mineral as normal Kryptonians. Anderson eventually realized X-Kryptonite would be harmful to inverse Kryptonians, weakening him and snapping his neck.

• Kryptonian Physiology: Kal-El had a unique physiology opposite to that of Superman, which granted him numerous superhuman powers.
  • Solar Energy Absorption: Although Kal-El absorbs solar energy to access his abilities, he absorbed red sun energy instead of that of yellow sun.
  • Flight: Kal-El was able to fly at superhuman speeds.
  • Freeze Vision: Opposite to Superman's heat vision, Kal-El could generate blasts of extremely cold temperature from his eyes.
  • Heat Breath: Kal-El had the ability to fire from his mouth, which is inverse to Superman's freeze breath.
  • Invulnerability: Kal-El was incredibly durable, being able to endure explosions and direct hits from Superman.
  • Regenerative Healing Factor: After being resurrected, Kal-El gained the ability to heal from extreme injuries while growing strong with each death. As a result of Lex Luthor's repeated torture, he transformed into a gigantic muscular creature.
  • Superhuman Speed: Kal-El was shown to travel at superhuman speeds.
  • Superhuman Strength: Kal-El caused earthquakes when attempting to break out of the Shuster Mines and was able to overpower Superman.

Abilities

• Hand-to-Hand Combat: Despite being weakened, Kal-El was able to take on numerous DOD soldiers with ease.

Weaknesses

• Inter-Dimensional Kinesthesis: Like his doppelgänger Superman, Kal-El struggled with a series of visions and headaches.
• X-Kryptonite: Kal-El's powers were weakened when he arrived in the Shuster Mines, the source of X-Kryptonite shards.
• Yellow Sun Energy: Unlike his inverse doppelgänger, Kal-El was weakened by the native yellow sun, as he gains his abilities through the absorption of red sun energy.

• Glasses: To disguise himself among humans, Kal-El wore a pair of glasses. However, after revealing himself to the world, he no longer wore them publicly.
• Oblivion Pendant: Kal-El utilized a metallic necklace he stole from Ally Allston, which is capable of generating enough energy to open a portal to another universe.

Notes

• His armored appearance resembles Doomsday's containment suit from the comics. In What Kills You Only Makes You Stronger, Kal-El was transformed into a monstrous form that resembles the appearance of Doomsday.
• With his opposite physiology to normal Kryptonians, Kal-El's abilities can be enhanced with Green Kryptonite instead of being weakened by it. However, it also makes him vulnerable to X-Kryptonite, which bestows Kryptonian abilities to normal humans.
