I asked you repeatedly, "Be part of my team."
What you asked for was my allegiance to America.
    And you refused.
Because I gave it to the world a long time ago.
America needs to come first. And to them, it does.
    — Mitch Anderson and Superman[src]

Lieutenant General Mitchell "Mitch" Anderson[5] was a United States Army high-ranking operative formerly serving as the director of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency and Superman's former contact, replacing the position of the retired General Sam Lane.

    Anderson and the Supermen

In summer 2021, Anderson called Superman to the DOD Headquarters and questioned his judgement of returning a rescued nuclear submarine to North Korea. He claimed that his actions would severely impact the geopolitics of Earth and asked him to give his allegiance to America, which he simply gave to the DOD. During an earthquake, Anderson sent trainees from the powered-individual school and Superman questioned him, answering his question that he would not give his allegiance to America as he had already given it to the world. Anderson returned the ELT and told him to return after he agrees to join his team of powerful trainees from the school. Superman refused and soon flew away before demanding Anderson to remove the crest of the House of El on the trainees' uniforms, which he refused.[1]
