Clark Kent is a reporter for and later the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet and the vigilante known as Superman. He was identified as the Paragon of Truth during the Crisis, before being written out of existence by Lex Luthor using the Book of Destiny.

Daily Planet Attack[edit | hide]
At some point, the Joker gassed the Daily Planet building in retaliation for the newspaper's perceived lack of coverage of him, which killed his wife, Lois Lane, and a countless number of his friends and co-workers.[2] This eventually led Clark to modify his suit to have a black and red crest instead of the original yellow and red crest which symbolized his belief that hope would shine through the darkness.[3]

At some point, Kent became a reporter for the Daily Planet and the vigilante known as Superman. He eventually married Lois Lane, who never died as a result of a gas attack on the Daily Planet in the Post-Crisis timeline, meaning he never changed his suit's emblem to black.[5]
Crisis on Infinite Earths[edit | hide]
Following the recreation of Earth-96, Superman was flying in orbit over Earth.[4]Powers and Abilities[edit | hide]
Powers[edit | hide]
- Kryptonian Physiology: Due to his Kryptonian physiology, Kent has a variety of superhuman powers.[4]
- Flight: Kent is able to manipulate his gravitational field in order to fly.[4]
- Self-Sustenance: Kent has far fewer physical needs than regular people and so is able to travel into space without the use of specialist breathing equipment.[4]
- Longevity: Like other Kryptonians, Kent could live over an extended period of time without significant signs of aging.[2][1]

- Indomitable Will: Kent was able to remain determined in his mission as a hero even when his close friends had been killed by the Joker.[2]
