I have responsibilities, Jonathan! I thought, by now, you would understand that.
That's the thing, Dad. It's always, always about me understanding you. Maybe, for once in your life, you should think about how I'm feeling.

    El becomes famous

When El was thirteen years old, he attended an event with his family and saw a man nearly falling to his death. El then decided to use his powers to save him, surprising the audience with his newly gained abilities. The family then began to promote El and gave him permission to work as a vigilante alongside his father, though only when the latter is present. However, El did not have a close relationship with his father and often ignore his instructions, enraging his parents repeatedly.[1]

    Joining Ally Allston[edit | hide]

El eventually turned his back on his family as his girlfriend Misty introduced him to Ally Allston, whom he initially considered to be responsible for the Star City Riots but later joined her. Leading a faction of Allston's Inverse Society, El attacked the DOD and demanded to see Project 3477. The commanding officer, Sam Lane, who was also El's grandfather, refused to do so and went into hiding afterwards.[1]

    Too Late[edit | hide]

Months later, El found his father's doppelgänger at the Fortress of Solitude and brought him to the farm, where he claimed to be a safe location. El's mother then informed Superman that El worked for Allston, beginning a conflict on the farm. El revealed his true intentions and asked for Anderson's whereabouts, demanding the Oblivion Stones. Anderson surprised El and Superman as he entered the house, later fighting El as Superman fought Tal-Rho and Lana Lang.[1]

During the battle, El brutally destroyed Anderson's internal organs, taking the Oblivion Stones to UE-43 and hoping to merge with his doppelgänger.[1][6]
