Since mid-20th century, Dr. Niles Caulder had been extensively searching for means to extend his lifespan to take care of his daughter. In his search, Caulder came across metahumans, ordinary humans who are given superhuman abilities. Caulder then provided a home for those metahumans, forming the Doom Patrol and constructing the Doom Manor for them.

By the 1950s, Caulder's Doom Patrol, consisting of Mento, Celsius and Lodestone had became the enemy of the Brotherhood of Evil. In their countless conflicts, the Doom Patrol successfully captured most of the Brotherhood's members, though the Brain was able to evade capture, leading to Mister Nobody's rise.

In the final fight against Mister Nobody, the Doom Patrol arrived at the scene where Hot Diggity (Dog Ziggity Boom) was played continuously and the civilians were trapped in a rampage. Despite the Doom Patrol's effort, their arrival was too late and arrived after police officers were demolished as piñatas. Nobody then switched tactics, using the Doom Patrol's fears against them. This battle profoundly changed the team, making them more and more volatile and ultimately forced to be kept in a shared delusion created by Mento. For the next sixty years, the Doom Patrol lived their lives at a nursing home under Joshua Clay's care.

A second generation of Doom Patrol was created when Mister Nobody returned, kidnapping Caulder and causing the town of Cloverton to crumble into a pit. The metahumans Caulder recruited while the first Doom Patrol remained dormant then decided to search for their missing leader, while remaining reluctant to take the role as "superheroes". Mister Nobody then conflicted with the team on Danny the Street, where his plan went wrong and led to his imprisonment in a painting, with the Doom Patrol shrunken.

Soon after their victory, the Doom Patrol took care of Dorothy Spinner, Caulder's daughter formerly living on Danny the Street. Unfortunately, Spinner possessed extraordinary powers, including the presence of a deity-like being residing in her mind, known as the Candlemaker. The Candlemaker wreaked havoc in Crazy Jane's mind while the Doom Patrol tried to overcome their past trauma. Thankfully, by the time Candlemaker was liberated thanks to Spinner's coming-of-age, the Doom Patrol stood together once more at the cost of their lives.

The battle against the Candlemaker ultimately ended with a duel with Spinner. Spinner then made amends with the Candlemaker, with him undoing the deaths of the Doom Patrol. Soon after a change in leadership, the Doom Patrol was approached by a amnesiac Laura De Mille who was sent by the 1940s Brotherhood of Evil to acquire the information of Caulder's future. Contrarily, De Mille befriended the Doom Patrol, becoming one of its members and unknowingly led the Sisterhood of Dada to the Doom Patrol. With the Sisterhood in conflict with the team, Farr travelled back to 1917, realizing the truth of De Mille's identity and turning the Doom Patrol against De Mille, allying with the Sisterhood of Dada. De Mille, now abandoned by both the Doom Patrol and the Sisterhood, turned to the Brotherhood in 2021, not knowing that they had already disbanded and retired. The Brain remained desperate to restore his glory in his past, hoping to defeat the deceased Niles Caulder by destroying his creations, the Doom Patrol. The Brain took over Cliff Steele's robot body and sent De Mille away, though Monsieur Mallah managed to spare their lives. While Steele travelled in his new gigantic body, Farr used boiling tea to destroy the remains of the Brain, later returning to Cloverton to stop a rogue Robotman.

For other uses of Doom Patrol, see Doom Patrol (Disambiguation).

As long as we're a team, we will never stop fighting for each other.

The Doom Patrol was a disbanded group of superpowered individuals created by Niles Caulder in the 1950s.

Originally reluctant to operate as "superheroes" and simply aimed to rescue Caulder from Mister Nobody, a second generation of Metahumans that he rescued stepped up and repeatedly saved the world from extranormal activities such as the Candlemaker. The team later protected Cloverton from Robotman's uncontrolled body and decided to finally work together under the leadership of Rita Farr, succeeding their predecessor and briefly operating as Doom Force.

    History[edit | hide | hide all]

    Early Years[edit | hide]

Since mid-20th century, Dr. Niles Caulder had been extensively searching for means to extend his lifespan to take care of his daughter. In his search, Caulder came across metahumans, ordinary humans who are given superhuman abilities. Caulder then provided a home for those metahumans, forming the Doom Patrol and constructing the Doom Manor for them.[1][2][3]

    Doom vs. Evil[edit | hide]

    The first Doom Patrol

By the 1950s, Caulder's Doom Patrol, consisting of Mento, Celsius and Lodestone had became the enemy of the Brotherhood of Evil. In their countless conflicts, the Doom Patrol successfully captured most of the Brotherhood's members, though the Brain was able to evade capture, leading to Mister Nobody's rise.[2]

Fall of the Doom Patrol[edit | hide]

In the final fight against Mister Nobody, the Doom Patrol arrived at the scene where Hot Diggity (Dog Ziggity Boom) was played continuously and the civilians were trapped in a rampage. Despite the Doom Patrol's effort, their arrival was too late and arrived after police officers were demolished as piñatas. Nobody then switched tactics, using the Doom Patrol's fears against them. This battle profoundly changed the team, making them more and more volatile and ultimately forced to be kept in a shared delusion created by Mento. For the next sixty years, the Doom Patrol lived their lives at a nursing home under Joshua Clay's care.[2]

Search for the Chief[edit | hide]

    Mister Nobody's illusion

A second generation of Doom Patrol was created when Mister Nobody returned, kidnapping Caulder and causing the town of Cloverton to crumble into a pit. The metahumans Caulder recruited while the first Doom Patrol remained dormant then decided to search for their missing leader, while remaining reluctant to take the role as "superheroes". The Doom Patrol, consisting of Rita Farr, Larry Trainor, Crazy Jane, Cliff Steele and Vic Stone, soon encountered Caulder's allies and enemies, ultimately locating him and rescuing him from the hands of Mister Nobody. Mister Nobody then conflicted with the team on Danny the Street, where his plan went wrong and led to his imprisonment in a painting, with the Doom Patrol shrunken.[4]

    Candlemaker's Liberation[edit | hide]

The Doom Patrol in the field

Soon after their victory, the Doom Patrol took care of Dorothy Spinner, Caulder's daughter formerly living on Danny the Street. Unfortunately, Spinner possessed extraordinary powers, including the presence of a deity-like being residing in her mind, known as the Candlemaker. The Candlemaker wreaked havoc in Crazy Jane's mind while the Doom Patrol tried to overcome their past trauma. Thankfully, by the time Candlemaker was liberated thanks to Spinner's coming-of-age, the Doom Patrol stood together once more at the cost of their lives.[5]

    Keeping an Eye[edit | hide]

The battle against the Candlemaker ultimately ended with a duel with Spinner. Spinner then made amends with the Candlemaker, with him undoing the deaths of the Doom Patrol. Sadly, Caulder had already passed away in the battle, leaving his team behind under the leadership of Rita Farr.[6]

While Steele travelled in his new gigantic body, Farr used boiling tea to destroy the remains of the Brain, later returning to Cloverton to stop a rogue Robotman.[7][8][9][10][11]

The Doom Patrol rushes into heroism

After a series of unfortunate events, the Doom Patrol reunited at the Doom Manor. The Doom Patrol realized that it was time that they should do the right thing and protect the world with their superhuman abilities. Under Farr's leadership, the team rode on Steele's new body and went on their first mission against the Testicle Monster.[11][12]

Rise of Immortus and the Butt-Pocalypse[edit | hide]

The Doom Patrol prepares for the Butt-Pocalypse

Now operating as superheroes, the Doom Patrol accidentally travelled to the 2042 and met their future selves. The future Doom Patrol revealed that their incompetence led to the Butt-Pocalypse. Upon returning to 2022, the Doom Patrol took effort to thwart the Butt-Pocalypse, killing one of the remaining two zombie Were-Butts and freezing the other in a fridge. Meanwhile, Immortus began sending his agents to acquire the pieces of himself from the Doom Patrol. Through Doctor Janus, Bunbury and the Scissormen, only the immortality in Cliff Steele remains intact. Despite Willoughby Kipling's warnings, Steele and Jane insisted to go to the Orqwith, coming face-to-face with the Agents of Immortus. As they were captured, Steele realized that the fridge holding the frozen Were-Butt was not fully closed, meaning the Butt-Pocalypse had restarted once more.[12][13][14][15][16]
