When I'm out there in the red and blue, and I'm saving people, that's who I really am. And I know this is gonna sound weird, but it's not what I'm called that should define who I am. It's who I am that should define what I'm called.
    — Clark Kent[src]

Clark Kent, born as Kal-El, is the retired vigilante known as Superman. As a young child, Kal-El was sent away from his dying home planet of Krypton to Earth, where he landed in Smallville and was raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent as Clark Kent. In his teenage years, Kent became the vigilante known as "The Blur", and subsequently operated in Metropolis while living a life as a reporter for the Daily Planet. He eventually met and fell in love with Lois Lane, whom he had daughters with. Soon afterwards, Kent retired from vigilantism and returned to his roots as a farmer in Smallville.

    Powers and Abilities[edit | hide]

    Powers[edit | hide]

    Former Powers[edit | hide]

    • Kryptonian Physiology: Due to his Kryptonian physiology, Kent has a variety of superhuman powers when exposed to the energy of a yellow sun.[4][32]
      • Solar Energy Absorption: Kent's body is able to absorb yellow solar radiation and covert it into energy, which in turn fuels his superhuman abilities. When exposed directly to a yellow sun, whether physically or mentally, Kent's ability to absorb solar radiation is near limitless and can even restore his powers if they have been removed.[32][33]
        • Enhanced Mental Capacity: Kent's mental abilities far surpass that of other lifeforms, as he is able to process information at incomprehensible speeds.[cite]
        • Flight: Kent can manipulate his gravitational field to levitate in the air. With time, Kent became capable of fling at hypersonic speeds, allowing him to travel anywhere almost instantaneously.[34][7]
        • Freeze Breath: Kent has a much larger lung capacity than humans and so can inhale large amounts of air to expel at superhuman speeds towards his enemies.[35]
          • Heat Vision: Kent can fire concentrated heat beams from his eyes, the temperature of which he can adjust at will. While this was initially triggered [36]
        • Invulnerability: Kent is impervious to almost all forms of physical damage and so cannot typically be harmed unless special means are used.[18]
          • Accelerated Healing Factor: Even when physically injured, Kent's body heals far more quickly than the average person's would and far more efficiently as the healing process does not leave scars.[37]
        • Longevity: Kent ages at a far slower rate than humans and has a relatively longer lifespan, according to Jordan Cross.[38]
        • Superhuman Senses: Kent's senses are far beyond that of any creature on Earth, and so he can perceive almost anything in his environment when focusing on it.[39]
          • Superhuman Hearing: Kent is able to perceive the most insignificant sounds from thousands of miles away when focusing on them.[40]
          • Superhuman Vision: Kent's vision far surpasses that of any other being, as he is able to view the entire electromagnetic spectrum at will and differentiate between different forms of energy.[41]
            • Micro Vision: Kent was able to see ink residue on the body of a victim with relative ease.[39]
            • Telescopic Vision: Kent is capable of seeing things from incredible distances.[42]
            • X-Ray Vision: Kent can see through solid objects provided they are not covered in lead.[41]
        • Superhuman Speed: Kent is able to move at speeds far beyond an average human, appearing as a blur to the human eye.[4]
          • Accelerated Perception: In superhuman speed, Kent can perceive information and process them within seconds.[34]
          • Superhuman Reflexes: Kent is able to perceive things much faster than the average person, allowing him to respond to incoming attacks at superhuman speeds.[18]
        • Superhuman Stamina: Kent can use his abilities for extended periods of time without showing any physical signs of exhaustion.[43]
        • Superhuman Strength: Even at his teenage years, Kent can easily overpower his peers and send them flying with a slight push.[4]
          • Superhuman Leaping: Prior to gaining his ability fly at supersonic speeds, Kent travel over great distances by leaping through exerting great forces from his legs.[34]
    • Powers via the Green Lantern Power Ring: Kent briefly acquired the Green Lantern Power Ring, which gave up powers beyond his Kryptonian physiology.[8]
      • Energy Constructs: While wearing the Green Lantern Power RIng, Kent was able to construct green energy in various forms and shapes.[8]

    Abilities[edit | hide]

    • Genius-level Intellect: While possessing superhuman cognitive capabilities, Kent began as an impulsive teenager, but soon gained experience and wisdom in wielding his abilities with a greater caution. This made him a keen strategist and capable of devising unusual tactics in the midst of the battle.[7]
    • Hand-to-Hand Combat: Despite not being professionally trained, Kent has shown to possess a great understanding in close combat skills.[4]
    • Multilingualism: Kent is fluent in English and Kryptonese.[45]

    Weaknesses[edit | hide]

    • Alien Weapons: Throughout his tenure as a vigilante and later as Superman, Kent has shown several weaknesses to advanced alien technologies and weapons.
      • Atomic Axe: The Persuader wielded an Atomic Axe that was able to slice into Kent's abdomen, severely injuring him.[46]
      • Starblade: The Starblade is one of the few weapons that was able to pierce Kent's near-invincible skin.[2]
    • High-Frequency Noises: As Kent has superhuman senses, high-frequency noises can disorient Kent for a limited period of time.[47]
    • Kryptonite: As a Kryptonian, Kent is extremely vulnerable to Kryptonite, radioactive remnants of his home planet of Krypton.[4]
      • Black Kryptonite: The Black Kryptonite was able to alter Kent's physiology and split his "Kal-El" persona from his body.[27]
      • Blue Kryptonite: In close contact with a Blue Kryptonite, Kent has no access to his superhuman abilities.[48]
      • Gold Kryptonite: The Gold Kryptonite can theoretically nullify Kent's ability to absorb yellow sun radiation, rendering him powerless.[49]
      • Green Kryptonite: Not only can the Green Kryptonite nullify Kent's abilities, but also weaken his body such that it induces dizziness.[4]
      • Red Kryptonite: Red Kryptonite can make Kent into a reckless and impulsive individual.[50]
      • Silver Kryptonite: With only a small amount of Silver Kryptonite, Brainiac was able to induce hallucinations in Kent's mind.[51]
    • Lead: Kent's x-ray vision cannot penetrate lead.[34]
    • Magic: Kent's superhuman durability can only defend him from physical injuries, but not the supernatural.[52]
    • Red Solar Energy: As Kent's Kryptonian physiology comes from yellow solar energy, red solar energy can depower his superhuman abilities.[53]
    • Solar Energy Depletion: When there is an absence of sunlight, Kent cannot access the full extent of his superhuman abilities.[53]

    Equipment[edit | hide]

    Current Equipment[edit | hide]

    • Blue Kryptonite: Kent gave up on his powers after he had his daughters, choosing a powerless life with his family.[16]
