Fear is what holds people back from being who they should be.
    — Patty Spivot[src]

Patty Spivot was a former police detective for the Central City Police Department and the ex-girlfriend of Barry Allen.

    Biography

    Early Life

Patty Spivot was born in Chesterfield in 1994 to an unnamed man.[2] When she was nine years old, she hit her head while attempting to jump off a diving board, causing her to fall into the swimming pool and her heart to stop for two minutes, though her father was able to resuscitate her.[3] One Christmas, Patty's father bought her a Mr. Jiggle Wiggle teddy bear.[4]

    Becoming a Police Officer

By the time she was seventeen, she was working part-time in her father's shoe shop after school due to her family not having a lot of money. In 2011, her father was shot and killed by Mark Mardon in a mugging while on his way to the bank.[2] Guilt ridden as she was supposed to take the deposit's from the shop to the bank that day but decided to go out with her friend's instead, she decided to become a police officer to get justice for her father.[4] Around Spring 2015, Patty became a police officer for the Central City Police Department.[2] Whilst out on a date, Patty once cited her boyfriend for public intoxication after he got drunk and insulted the waitress, ending their relationship.[3]

    Anti-Metahuman Task Force

After learning of the creation of the Anti-Metahuman Task Force, Captain Singh suggested that she ask Detective Joe West if she could join, though he refused to allow her to. Later, she showed up at the scene of an arson by the waterfront and introduced herself to Barry Allen, giving him some evidence she had found, though this did not change Joe's mind about her. She and West later arrested Eddie Slick, believing him to be his Earth-2 doppelgänger, though they let him go after realizing he was not a metahuman. After a brief argument between the two detectives, they were interrupted by the Eddie of Earth-2, who used his powers to kidnap Patty, taking her to an abandoned warehouse and tying her to a chair which had a concussive bomb underneath it. Eventually, “Jay Garrick” arrived and distracted Eddie long enough for The Flash to arrive and save Patty, though she was knocked unconscious from the bomb's shockwave. Waking up, she called for The Flash, with both the men coming to help her. Now back at CCPD Headquarters, Patty approached Joe again and told him the story of her father's murder and that she wanted to join the task force as Mardon had gained powers following the Particle Accelerator Explosion. Accepting this answer, Joe promoted her to a detective and allowed her to join the task force.[2]
