My sister Merry, you know about her. Like you, she always saw the good in people. She thought, given a chance, bad people could change. Even Brainwave. Brainwave was different than The Shade or the Crocks or Cindy. He was too far gone. And no matter what I told Merry about him, she was in love. For some reason. I blamed his powers. Thought he had tricked her into loving him or planted the idea in her brain, but... I don't know. And they married. Had a son, Henry. And for a while... She kind of proved me wrong.

Merry King (née Pemberton) was the sister of Sylvester Pemberton and the wife of Henry King Sr..

    Meeting Henry[edit | hide]

At some point after Henry King Sr. acquired his powers, Henry robbed a bank and Merry Pemberton, as the Girl of a Thousand Gimmicks, went to stop him. King then read her thoughts which he thought were different from normal people. King then fell in love with her, and she gave birth to a son.[3]

    Death[edit | hide]

As Henry Sr. later joined the Injustice Society of America, Pemberton was killed by him and King tried to blame Jordan Mahkent for it.[1]

    Legacy[edit | hide]

In 2020, Henry Jr. found out the videotapes of his father about his life after he got powers. In the one after Merry was killed, Henry blamed Mahkent for the death which caused Henry Jr. to think Jordan was the murderer until Henry Sr. told him he is the actual killer.[1]
