As Lex Luthor was attempting to grow land using a kryptonian crystal in the mansion of the late Gertrude Vanderworth, he triggered a blackout effecting the east coast of the United States.[1]
Rescue of the Boeing 777
The first grid to be hit was the mansion, the uptown grid went dark at 12:36 and midtown 10 seconds before. It almost caused the crash of a nearby Boeing 777, until it was rescued by Superman.[1]
Aftermath
This incident was investigated by Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane, which led her to the mansion. This resulted in her and her son, Jason White, being kidnapped by Luthor whilst aboard his boat, The Gertrude.[1]
