    Career at the Daily Planet

    At some point, Perry White became the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet. He later hired Cat Grant as a gossip columnist and gave her the nickname, "CJ Grant".[1]

    In May 2009, White called CJ Grant to tell her that her investigation into Midvale being the "luckiest town in America" was outside the purview of her gossip column, but she told him she wants to report some real news and hung up.[2]

    He called her back a while later asking her to report on the Balloon Boy Incident, but she told him that she is sick of reporting on gossip and quit to start her own journalistic outlet. She also told him to start calling her "Cat Grant".[1]
