Jervis Tetch was a tiny, insecure, and annoying neuroscientist. He felt like the world wasn't listening to him, so he developed mind control technology to force them to listen. He built it directly into his hat.

Jervis Tetch was a former neuroscientist who became a criminal and enemy of Batman under the alias, Mad Hatter.

    Biography[edit | hide | hide all]

    Mad Hatter[edit | hide]

Jervis Tetch was a small, insecure neuroscientist who felt the world wasn't listening to him. He therefore created mind control technology and imbedded it within his hat to force them to listen. This resulted in him becoming the criminal known as the Mad Hatter and an enemy of Batman.

In 2001, Tetch was defeated by Batman and locked in Arkham Asylum. His hat was then stored in the Batcave once the mind control technology had been disabled. He is currently believed to have died whilst in Arkham.[1]

    Legacy[edit | hide]

In 2021, his hat was stolen from the Batcave by "Circe Sionis", alongside other Batman trophies, and given to Black Mask.[2] During a fight between "Circe Sionis", Batwoman, and Alice, the hat fell into the Gotham River.[3] Some time later, it was found by two men and sold to Liam Crandle, who used it to become the second Mad Hatter.[1]
