Jack Napier was a criminal crime lord active in the 1980s in Gotham City. After falling into a chemical tub in Axis Chemicals, he became the psychotic enemy of Batman as the Joker.

At some point, Jack Napier became the criminal known as the Joker. Immediately prior to the Crisis, the Joker was captured by Batman.[2]
