Maryann Cushing, formerly known as Maryann Cortez,^[1] is the mother of Kyle Cushing and paternal grandmother of Sarah and Sophie Cushing.

At some point, the Cortez family moved to Smallville and settled for generations, changing their last name to "Cushing" in order to get a job.^[1] Maryann then spent time with her granddaughter Sarah in Atlas Lake, where the former spent time telling stories about the family.^[2]

Maryann would later attend Sarah's quinceañera at the Kent Barn.^[1]
