Krypton was a destroyed planet and the home planet of Superman and Supergirl.
History
In the 1980s, Krypton's natural resources were reaching exhaustion and the scientists on the planet, Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van were aware of the planet's fate.
As the people discovered Krypton's fate, a war started and accelerated the planet's ruin. Eventually, the planet was destroyed after the oceans died[1] and Kal-El, followed by his cousin, Kara Zor-El, escaped in two pods to Earth.[2] Fortunately, a small fraction of people escaped through Argo City with Zor-El staying behind to ensure their survival. Zor-El then sent himself to the Phantom Zone in hopes of survival.[3]
