Jaime Reyes is the host of the Khaji-Da, a mysterious scarab-like biotechnological alien that grants him extraordinary abilities. With such abilities, Reyes operated as the Blue Beetle, taking the mantle from Dan Garrett and Ted Kord as a hero. Reyes is also the grandson of Elena Leal, the son of Alberto and Rocio Reyes, the brother of Milagro Reyes and the nephew of Rudy Reyes.

Powers
- Khaji-Da Capabilities: Reyes accidentally bonded with the mysterious biotechnological alien known as Khaji-Da, which attached itself to Reyes' spine and can materialize any weapons according to Reyes' will. Khaji-Da also grants Reyes superhuman abilities, making his physically superior to the average human.[1]
- Advanced Durability: When Khaji-Da materializes the Blue Beetle Armor for Reyes, it protects Reyes from different weapons, including bullets.[1]
- Heads Up Display (HUD): The Blue Beetle Armor has a HUD that allows Reyes to monitor the exterior environment and operate multiple scanners as well as the suit telemetry.[1]
- Self-Contained Life-Support System: Reyes was able to survive in outer space with the Blue Beetle Armor being completely sealed for operations in vacuum.[1]
- Superhuman Speed: Reyes can move at a high speed than average humans when Khaji-Da is activated.[1]
- Superhuman Strength: The Khaji-Da grants Reyes the ability to lift heavy objects and exert great force from a single punch or kick.[1]
- Technomorphy: With a telepathic link to Reyes' mind, the Khaji-Da can materialize and morph into different shapes and forms according to Reyes' will.[1]
- Flight: Khaji-Da is capable of producing a pair of propulsion-based wings that can lift Reyes in the air and even to outer space.[1]
- Melee Weapon Production: Reyes' often summons different melee weapons to aid him in his battles, most notably swords of various shapes and sizes.[1]
- Plasma Cannon: One of Reyes' weapon of choice is a plasma cannon morphed from his forearm, with it being powerful enough to knock his opponents backwards.[1]

- Hand-to-Hand Combat: Reyes was able to capably defend himself against Kord Industries operatives using his armor as an aid.
