    Death is no joke.

Death is a cosmic entity that controls the deaths of mortals.

    Biography[edit | hide | hide all]

Ruler of the Afterlife[edit | hide]

At some point, Death was created as the living embodiment of the concept of death, being responsible for ensuring that all mortal beings died when they were supposed to. Due to this, Death also became the ruler of the Afterlife, being served by many individuals, such as the Nightmare Nurse and the Watchers.[2]

    Encounters with Humans[edit | hide]

Whilst performing their duty, Death has had several notable encounters with people through the multiverse. These include an encounter with John Constantine in which their sickle was stolen,[1] several interactions with Edwin Paine and Charles Rowland,[2] and an encounter with Dick Grayson, which they remember due to his later resurrection.[3] When the Doom Patrol died and went to the Afterlife, Death once again searched for the Dead Boy Detectives, who had come to rescue them, but once again failed to put them to rest.[2]

    Powers and Abilities[edit | hide]

    Powers[edit | hide]

    • Magic: Given their status as a cosmic entity and the ruler of the Afterlife, Death is a proficient magic user.[2]
      • Shape-Shifting: Death is able to shape-shift so that they can appear as both male and female depending on who they are talking to.[1][2]
