    Crisis Merging[edit | hide | hide all]

Hey Daxamite, could you please leave the Crisis merging to the admins please. There are a lot more things that need to be done for it than simply moving the page itself. TheDemon08Talk 02:22, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
I am editing from Australia, where there is very often a bad gateway error around half the time I log on to the wiki. Also, I can see how pages are merged, using AjaxEdit to replace text and links: however I myself cannot use it, and so everything must be done manually. Given the high volume of pages + how the majority of my edits often sit unused for days before being posted, hardly anything I have edited in the past hour has shown up yet. I might not be able to continue these edits if they don't even show up on the wiki itself: at least suggestions could work (if they ever made it.) For example, check Time Travel: plenty of 1/Prime merges are needed there.
By now, I am beginning to run out of edits here - the best option for me is to export highly volatile pages such as those of cities and their locations, and then merge them (if approved or shown at all.) I have noticed that some of my edits have tended to disappear for a few days... Daxamite (talk) 02:52, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
The reason your edits aren't showing up immediately is that we've recently implemented an approval process for new edits, where they are either approved or rejected. Rest assured, none of them are being lost. TheDemon08Talk 05:41, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
I do not have much experience in computer storage, so I can only roughly approximate how the edits are stored. They are sent from me, the client, to the server where they are temporarily stored. However, if rejected or ignored for long enough, or if the page is intermediately or conflictingly edited at once, these edits will be replaced by the most current revision of the page. If an edit is not picked up for a few hours and the page has been edited since, the edit sent will be effectively lost with the revision being superseded. Hence it could be a waste of power, typing and thoughts to make a majority of edits that never show up for weeks or months, on the client end, while the server side floods the recent changes with supposedly human (rather bot/Ajax edits) of text replacement. Elsewhere, I do not know how much longer I can continue here if the connection on the opposite side of the world is rendered unstable somehow. But I am beginning to run out of thoughts for now. (If the message gets across at all now, due to the approval process.)
Of course, an additional remark could be that some edits are lost simply because of the time spent to approve them: one intermediate tweak and all of the page could be lost, or so obscurely stored that they are forgotten. I could be creating the same edit for several times in a row, but none show up until the next week, or perhaps month, at least until one does after a significant portion of a year has passed.

I have been inactive for a month ever since the site (http://dcmultiversewiki.com ) moved to (http://dcmultiverse.wikiforge.net ), breaking or forcing me to reform/retype too many links from my computer/s. However, given that the wiki was quite completely transferred here (including deletion logs, previous contributions, and live edits), when did this start to happen, between Sept/Oct? Did any of my pre-existing/unsaved edits get transferred with the wiki's domain, or are they now rendered lost? Consider the File:Central City Savings & Loan (Earth-Prime) 001.png, which I have attempted to move/reupload several times, but none of the files have gone through yet, as for months (let alone hundreds of my other edits.) Will any be saved (as I found the new site only today), or will I have to restart them all? If anyone is active now, consider checking moderated edits in the meantime, if they are still there (or not lost yet/since long ago).
