"The Darkness Beneath"[1] is the second episode of the first season of Constantine, and the second episode overall. It aired on October 31, 2014.

I suppose it could be liberating to take a leap of faith, to shrug off the burden of proof for the promise of hope. It takes trust to turn darkness to light. And those who trust risk putting their faith in the wrong hands. For there are those who pray for you, and there are those who prey on you. And no matter how careful you are, sometimes you just can't tell the difference.

    Synopsis

Deep in the mountains of Western Pennsylvania, John is a small mining community's only defense against an ancient Welsh spirit. In the course of protecting these isolated innocents, John finds a vital new ally in a mysterious young woman named Zed.[1]
