    What is the question, Naomi?
The question is... Who am I?
    Dee and Naomi McDuffie[src]

Naomi McDuffie is a refugee from the destroyed Earth-29 and a student in Port Oswego, as well as a blogger of the Superman Site. After a Superman-related stunt occurred in Port Oswego, McDuffie became determined to investigate the story behind it and began passing out randomly.

    Biography[edit | hide | hide all]

    Early Life[edit | hide]

    The McDuffies "find" Naomi

Naomi was born on Earth-29 to a pair of unnamed parents, who were both mutated and became members of The Twenty-Nine. As they were the only members to have been able to procreate, Naomi became extremely valuable to Brutus, who hunted down the members of The Twenty-Nine.[4]

To protect Naomi, she was placed in the care of Greg and Jennifer McDuffie and sent to another universe. Zumbado, a friend of Naomi's parents, secretly protected her as he followed the McDuffies across the world.[4]

To settle down in a parallel universe, Naomi was legally adopted on March 14, 2004, as Naomi McDuffie, with the McDuffies claiming that her parents had died in a car crash in Port Oswego on the East Coast. McDuffie then lived the next 16 years of her life peacefully, not knowing her origins nor his adoptive parents' secrets.[2][5]

    McDuffie in Port Oswego

Growing up in a small town, McDuffie befriended Annabelle, Nathan, Anthony, Jacob and Lourdes. McDuffie grew up obsessed with the DC Comics hero, Superman, and started a website that rose to become the number three fan site in the world. At some point, she was in a relationship with Nathan before breaking up with him after five dates.[2]

Seven months later,[6] McDuffie attended Nathan's party and greeted her friends except Anthony, who was given the wrong address to Nathan's house. McDuffie returned to her house by midnight and woke up the next morning to her parents before skateboarding to school.[2]

    Origin Story[edit | hide]

    Best Stunt Ever[edit | hide]

In 2022, McDuffie attended the debate team meeting and was called by Annabelle about a Superman-related stunt happening in Town Square. While skateboarding to Main Street, she began hearing buzzing and felt disoriented, passing out on the ground before seeing Superman's blur flying over Port Oswego. When she woke up, she discovered the stunt was already over and interviewed the bystanders, who claimed that Superman fought a "blue guy" before knocking him out. Despite her persistence, McDuffie was unable to hear any news from Lourdes, and both were frustrated over their confusion.[2]

For the entire day, McDuffie was determined to investigate the backgrounds of the stunt and discovered that cameras across the street were all damaged. She then asked for Nathan's assistance in recreating a clear footage of the stunt. McDuffie was then suspicious of Dee's presence, as he appeared to know "Superman". McDuffie soon went to Dee's tattoo shop and asked him about the stunt. However, her suspicion grew stronger when Dee knew the exact date of her adoption. Dee dismissed her and told her that he was the one who orchestrated the whole stunt.[2]

Although the background of the stunt was revealed, McDuffie was still confused over the buzzing noises and continued to attend the debate. Greg and Jennifer also presented a new car as a gift to McDuffie, before letting her drive to the venue. During the debate, McDuffie initially performed well before passing out once more. The doctors at the venue claimed that she had a panic attack, but she discovered that it had something to do with her powers, as she was able to see a small note clearly from a great distance when she took off her glasses.[2]

Afterwards, McDuffie followed the location on the note and went to the Red River Forest. She uncovered a disc on the ground and was approached by Zumbado, who demanded to take the disc. The leaves next to McDuffie began floating as she created a small breeze, eventually knocking herself on the ground with a strong force. Disc was then taken by Zumbado while McDuffie went to Annabelle's house to investigate the incident.[2]

    Crew Mission[edit | hide]

    McDuffie and her crew

McDuffie and Annabelle soon realized that they needed to investigate more about Zumbado, and gathered the crew to Zumbado's shop. Lourdes was able to open the front door, and they searched for suspicious objects. McDuffie found a newspaper from March 14, 2004, with the headline saying that an unidentified flying object crashed in Port Oswego with Dee in the photo, seemingly looking exactly the same as his present appearance.[2]

    Who Am I?[edit | hide]

Later that night, McDuffie went to Dee's once more and asked more questions. Dee claimed that he cannot give her the right answers unless she asks the right questions. He then revealed his identity as a Thanagarian and opened his metallic wings. Shocked and confused, McDuffie asked who he was. Dee continued to ask her to ask the right question, with McDuffie asking him, "Who am I?"[2]
