Edward "Ed" Nygma is a former forensic science technician-turned criminal known as the Riddler, partnering with the Penguin as one of Gotham City's most powerful criminals.

Abilities
- Genius-level Intellect: Nygma is often considered as one of the smartest man in Gotham City, with him often showing his exceptional intellect in specific areas such as science, literature, and criminal tactics.
- Eidetic Memory: Nygma claimed that he is incapable of forgetting anything he sees.
- Lock-Picking: Nygma is familiar with the art of picking locks.
- Mathematics/Probability: While facing an ancient puzzle box that had not been able to be solved for years, Nygma easily did so in seconds, beating experienced and expert mathematicians in the world.
- Science: Nygma, as an experienced forensic science technician, is familiar with a variety of scientific concepts.
- Medical Knowledge: Albeit not being a medic, Nygma was able to nurse an injured Oswald Cobblepot to health after the latter suffering from a gunshot wound.
- Marksmanship: Nygma is proficient in the use of firearms, while also showing exceptional marksmanship in multiple occasions.
- Knife-Fighting: Nygma was able to throw a meat cleaver at his opponents with exceptional accuracy.

- Degraded Intellect: Nygma lost his exceptional intellect after being frozen in a block of ice for a prolonged period of time. However, it was later revealed that he did not physically lose his intellect, but the intellect was instead transferred to his alter. As a result, the exceptional intellect and the knowledge over a variety of fields while the darker alter fronts.
