Christine Marie "Chrissy" Beppo[2][5] is the co-owner and editor-in-chief of Smallville Gazette.
Beppo initially worked with Lois Lane on Morgan Edge's involvement with Smallville. Later, they worked as co-owners of the gazette but slowly began having conflicts with accusations of Lane's unethical behavior in the past. Beppo then turned to Ally Allston for more information about Lane and was the first to be sent to the Bizarro World. Unfortunately, those without the pendant were disintegrated, with Superman saving her from danger. Following the danger, Beppo disowned Allston and returned to work with Lane.

Meeting Lois Lane[edit | hide]
Beppo met Lois Lane at a diner and his herself from looking at her. She then formally introduced herself to Lane during the Smallville town meeting and expressed her thoughts of having Lane at her newspaper publisher. After quitting the Daily Planet, Lois Lane went to the office and started working at the Gazette, with Beppo admitting she was lying about an editor being interested in her skills and the editor was in fact herself.[1]

With Lane working with her, the two investigated Morgan Edge and were approached by Sharon Powell, whose son has been missing. Beppo and Lane then worked day and night searching for clues that could expose Edge. However, they were interrupted when Lane' car was set on fire by a hooded man.[6]
Later, Beppo and Lane investigated New Carthage despite Lane being attacked by the hooded man once more when she went to New Carthage for more information. While the two worked in the office, they were approached by Leslie Larr, who brought a copy of Lane' contract and reminded her that she could not write an article that "defames" Edge.[7]
On the day of the Harvest Fest, Beppo and Lane was approached by the Powell family and was informed that Derek returned home with his recent memories gone. Beppo then suspected him and expressed her suspicion to Lane, with her agreeing and continuing the investigation. During the event, Beppo followed Derek Powell to a building with a "Bride of Frankenstein" machine. She then called Lane, whose husband Superman overheard the conversation and flew to assist Beppo. After Superman fought Derek and the latter committed suicide, Beppo escaped back to the town and returned to safety.[8]
