Alfred Thaddeus Crane Pennyworth was a former Special Air Service soldier and later a security consultant. With his expertise in espionage and combat, Pennyworth was hired by Thomas Wayne as his family's butler, while also serving as their bodyguard.

Abilities
- Marksmanship: Pennyworth was trained at handling firearms in battlefields. Using this experience, he became an expert marksman and utilized his skills to defend himself as well as his clients.[1]
- Hand-to-Hand Combat: Pennyworth has proven himself to be a skillful combatant, having been able to defeat trained operatives of the Raven Society with ease.[1]
- Knife-Fighting: Pennyworth trained Bruce Wayne in knife-fighting, while having shown this skill while combating Talon.
- Swordsmanship: Pennyworth and Wayne often dueled each other with swords at the Wayne Manor.
