“ | Oh, Malcolm? Dreadfully shy. He had his head scrambled by the war in France. Just follow the pipe smoke. You'll find him. | ” |
Private Malcolm DuPont,[1] better known as Agent !, was a Metahuman recruit for the Bureau of Normalcy and subsequently a member of the Sisterhood of Dada.
Biography
Early Life
At some point, DuPont served as a military private and was injured during a war in France.[1] During the process, he traded his heart for a canary in Verdun.[3]
On January 2, 1917, DuPont's exceptional abilities were discovered by the Bureau of Normalcy and he was brought to the Ant Farm. He was deemed "not a weapon" by Meta recruiter Laura De Mille and worked as a mailroom clerk with other Metahumans that were not sent to join the Meta Weapons Division. Alongside Shelley Byron, Lloyd Jefferson, Holly McKenzie, Sachiko and Laura De Mille, they formed the Sisterhood of Dada.[2][3]
Piffle Paffle
In 1917, DuPont and the Sisterhood observed a newcomer "Bendy" and recruited her to the group since the only memory left in her was the group and De Mille's name. They spent time together in Byron's fog illusion and performed to each other while DuPont explained his injuries to Bendy. Later, Bendy bravely sat in the cafeteria and ignored the judgement from human agents. DuPont and the Sisterhood joined as well and Sachiko altered the reality for their performance. However, they were found by a security guard, who was De Mille in disguise, and escaped the real security division.[3]
In 1949, the Sisterhood no longer operated as active as they did decades ago. Bendy and DuPont remained in a romantic and flirtatious relationship while hiding from the Bureau's observations. Despite their effort, the Sisterhood did not appreciate their performance as the "Skittish Apparition" and "The Shapeless Shape". De Mille soon arrived in the room and ordered the Bureau agents to force them to join the Meta Weapons Division. DuPont did not accept the choice and chose to defend himself, only to be electrocuted and killed by Wally Sage.[2]
Afterlife
Decades later, in the Afterlife, DuPont once again met Bendy. However, this version of her had not yet travelled back in time to 1917 and had yet to meet him. DuPont ignored the fact that she did not recognize him and assisted her team to escape The Watchers, while he was taken to Hades.[4]
Eternal Flagellation
In 2021, the Sisterhood of Dada began their revenge on De Mille and plotted the Eternal Flagellation. DuPont was the quintessential part of the project as the Sisterhood resurrected him. DuPont was transformed into billions of masked birds when Bendy, Rita Farr, unlocked the cage despite Sleepwalk's warning that only De Mille opening it could make the plan successful. The birds soon attacked Larry Trainor, Vic Stone, Cliff Steele and Crazy Jane, sending them all to an unknown location.[2]
Powers and Abilities
