Notes
- This episode includes countless references to the comics.
- The scene where Superman changes his outfits in a phone booth is a direct reference to the exact actions Superman does in early comic strips.
- In the same scene, the bystander compared Clark's flight to birds and planes, a reference to the common phrase "It's a bird. It's a plane. It's Superman!".
- Superman's suit in the late 90s to early 00s, which was first seen in Pilot (Superman & Lois), was seen in this episode once more. The suit's design is a reference to that in the Max Fleischer cartoons.
- Superman lifting a green car, a scene also first seen in "Pilot", is also a reference to Actions Comics #1, Superman's first appearance in history.
- Jor-El's speech regarding Superman's powers is similar to what Jor-El of the Earth-1 said in Man of Steel (Film).
- The scene where Superman changes his outfits in a phone booth is a direct reference to the exact actions Superman does in early comic strips.
- According to the film titles shown in Sequoia (Friday Night Lights and Harry Potter), it is assumed that this episode takes place in 2004. With the later part of the flashback taking place in 2005, a year after Superman debuted in Metropolis.
