    Yz (Earth-2: Post-Crisis)

    What the heck are you?
I'm your new best friend, and you don't even know it!
    Mike Dugan and Thunderbolt[src]

Yz, better known as Thunderbolt, is a former member of the Justice Society of America.

    Biography[edit source]

    Early Life[edit source]

Yz was originally from Bahdnesia before his homeland's destruction. Later, he went to the United States and his presence as a "genie" caused a heart attack in an elderly man, sending him to the emergency room.[2]

Johnny Thunder & the Thunderbolt[edit source]

    Johnny Thunder

At some point, Yz started using the alias "Thunderbolt" and worked alongside Johnny Thunder to fight crime as members of the Justice Society of America.[1]

On December 24, 2010, Thunder and Thunderbolt fought against the Injustice Society of America. Unfortunately, Thunder passed away after Brainwave murdered him before he made a final wish for Thunderbolt to find a friend. After Thunder's death, Thunderbolt was stored as a pink pen at the Justice Society of America headquarters for years.[1][2]

    Taken to Blue Valley[edit source]

Ten years later, when Pat Dugan brought Courtney Whitmore to the Justice Society's headquarters, the latter attempted to pick up Thunderbolt but was told not to as it was the most dangerous thing in the room. Whitmore later stole multiple gadgets and suits from the building, including the Thunderbolt, Hourman Suit, Doctor Mid-Nite Suit, Starheart Lantern, and Wildcat Suit.[1] She later tried to use the Thunderbolt by clicking the pen but nothing happened even after several tries, so she placed it in a pencil holder and left the room.[3]

    So Cool![edit source]

In summer 2021, Mike Dugan took Thunderbolt and failed to realize that it was not an ordinary pen. He later altered words in Dugan's eyes, and they appeared as "so cool". Dugan quickly tripped over a stone and said the words out loud, releasing Thunderbolt from the pen as he exclaimed in joy. Thunderbolt introduced himself as a member of the Justice Society and started telling Dugan about his past with Thunder.

Thunderbolt and Dugan soon walked around and found a little girl being bullied by Dugan's classmates. Dugan wishes for them to stop. Unfortunately, his wishes were vague and Thunderbolt sent stop signs to land in front of them until they actually stop. Whitmore and Yolanda Montez later arrived and brought the two to the Pit Stop.

Don't touch the Thunderbolt! That's the most dangerous thing in here.
    • Djinn Physiology: Thunderbolt is a Djinn that possesses a vast variety of abilities, allowing him to assist his masters easily. He also resides in a pink pen unless people releases him saying "so cool", pronounced "sowkewl" in his native homeland of Bahdnesia and means "set free the all-powerful force upon the Earth of the magical and awe-inspiring Thunderbolt". However, there are still limitations to his masters as they are required to be completely and utterly alone.[2]
      • Flight: Thunderbolt is able to levitate midair and fly around at an exceptional speed.[2]
      • Electrokinesis: Thunderbolt's body consists of pink lightning, giving him the power to create small bolts of the energy out of his body.[2]
      • Wish Granting: While bonded with his masters, Thunderbolt is able to follow their orders and granting their wishes. However, they are rules and restrictions to the power.[2]
        • Reality Manipulation: The Thunderbolt is capable of altering and change certain aspects of the reality in order to grant his masters' wishes, such as bringing Mike Dugan on a bench when he asked to be taller.[2]
        • Conjuration: In order to fulfil his orders, Thunderbolt often conjures items out of nowhere, including stop signs.[2]
      • Teleportation: Thunderbolt is able to jump from location to location, allowing him to travel instantly.[2]
      • Super Speed: After being freed from the pen, Thunderbolt quickly flew around at an exceptional speed before settling to introduce himself to Mike.[2]
      • Telepathy: The Thunderbolt was able to read Mike Dugan's mind and automatically identify who the "better hands" meant when he wished the former to be in better hands, eventually being acquired by Jakeem Williams.[2]

    Weaknesses[edit source]

    • Specific Commands: The wishes and commands sent to Thunderbolt are required to be exact and specific, with them being possible of backfiring and not meeting his masters' initial idea.[2]
    • Rules: Thunderbolt's powers and abilities are limited by certain rules, such as no death inducement, no resurrections, and cannot wish for the same thing twice. Additionally, Thunderbolt did not recommend body transformation as it often result in negatively.[2] He is also prohibited from fulfilling wishes that kills another being.[4]
