“ | Why did he color his beard all strange like that? He thought it made him look younger and more handsome. He never had a girlfriend, so he thought dying his beard might help. But he was also lazy... and busy with his job... and he wouldn't dye his roots regularly. And when he did, he used the cheapest brand because he was incredibly underpaid. Mostly, though... he never thought anybody noticed... until recently... when one guy said it to him all the time. |

In 2021, John Economos, Emilia Harcourt and Flo Crawley gambled on the status of Task Force X team-one members prior to their suicidal mission. They were then interrupted by Amanda Waller as they returned to their respective roles.[4]
Later, Economos monitored team two's mission in Corto Maltese as the first team was simply a distraction for the local army. He then asked Waller as to if she would do anything to Bloodsport's daughter like she promised, with her telling Economos that he does not have any clue on what she could do.[4]
As the comms were blocked by Corto Maltesean constructions, Economos, Harcourt and Crawley fell asleep at the command center until they were woken by Bloodsport's message on Starro's escape. Economos shouted in disbelief and reluctantly followed Waller's orders to open the Nano-Bomb Detonator as the team refused to leave the people of Corto Maltese behind with Starro. However, Crawley knocked Waller unconscious and allowed both Economos and Harcourt to guide the team to attack Starro.[4]
