“ | You know, when I came to your stupid Earth with its good burgers, I was a stupid man. Lost, angry, blah, blah, blah, and you showed me how to be a better person. And I will always be grateful for this friendship. Now run, Barry, run. | ” |
Dr. Harrison "Harry" Wells was a scientist from Earth-2 and the director of S.T.A.R. Labs. After the Singularity happened, Wells was one of the few that voluntarily went through a breach to Earth-1, befriending Team Flash and becoming a valuable member of the team.
After the Crisis, Wells, along with an infinite number of Harrison Wells were killed and their brainwaves were tangled with Nash Wells', making their consciousnesses reside in Nash's mind.
Biography[edit source]
Early Life[edit source]
Harrison Wells solved Einstein's riddle at the age of ten.[2]
At some point, Wells met an unnamed woman and married her. Later, they had a daughter named Jesse and they both treated her with passion.[5]
In 1991, S.T.A.R. Labs was founded by Wells, and he was devoted to his work for more than twenty years.[6] However, he was heartbroken after the death of his wife and could not move on.[5]
Creating Metahumans[edit source]
Unlike his Earth-1 counterpart in the original timeline, Wells was able to create the particle accelerator in 2014. However, the accelerator exploded, causing numerous people to gain superpowers despite Wells' attempt to contain the Dark Matter within the facility.[7]
After the accident, Wells realized the danger of having metahumans in the city and created the Metahuman Awareness App, which gained the attention of the speedster vigilante, The Flash and caused both of them to disagree with each other's perspective on the accident.[8]
During the Singularity, The Flash was pulled into a wormhole and arrived on Earth-1. Later, Wells himself discovered a breach in the basement of S.T.A.R. Labs and travelled to Earth-1 as well, hoping to find a way to save his daughter from Zoom.[8]
Meeting Team Flash[edit source]
After Wells arrived on Earth-1, he stayed at S.T.A.R. Labs and observed the activities of Team Flash. At a point, Wells stole an energy rifle and assisted The Flash of Earth-1 in defeating King Shark. Later, Allen brought him back to S.T.A.R. Labs and Wells was mistaken as Eobard Thawne.[8]

Powers and Abilities[edit source]
Powers[edit source]
Former Powers[edit source]
- Nanite Shield: To prevent speedsters from "phasing" into his own body, Wells injected himself with nanites, which attack foreign cells upon entry.[9]
- Thinking Cap Enhancement: In hopes of fighting Clifford DeVoe with his intelligence, Wells urged Cisco Ramon to create a modified version of DeVoe's Thinking Cap, boosting Wells' intelligence in the process.[10]
- Superhuman Intelligence: While wearing the Thinking Cap, Wells' intelligence became exponentially higher than his initial one, allowing him to predict future events, calculate probabilities and orchestrate elaborate plans at a higher capacity, even on par with DeVoe himself.[10] However, with a slight change in the programming from DeVoe and Wells' own addiction to the cap, Wells' attempt to charge the cap with Dark Matter proved to be catastrophic. According to Gideon, while the Thinking Cap did enhance Wells' intelligence, it also decreased his initial intelligence, ultimately making Wells the first victim of DeVoe's Enlightenment.[11] With the help of Marlize DeVoe, Ramon was able to restore Wells' intelligence to an average level, though the damage on his neurons were too severe for him to regain his full intelligence at once, and he was able to slowly recover over time.[12][13]
Abilities[edit source]
- Genius-level Intellect: Wells possessed an exceptional intellect, having been able to solve Einstein's riddle at the age of ten and acquired seven PhDs.[2][10]
- Business Acumen: Not only was Wells a leading expert in scientific fields, he was shown to be capable in the field of business, with him leading S.T.A.R. Labs to become a successful and pioneer research facility.[14]
- Engineering: Wells was a skilled engineer, capable of understanding the designs of complex machines and design much more of his own.[14]
- Hacking: To gain access to video footage of DeVoe gaining his superhuman intelligence, Wells hacked into the S.T.A.R. Labs database.
- Mathematics: Wells was a master in mathematics, creating a complex mathematics "riddle" to find possible versions of himself that were capable of joining Team Flash.[15]
- Science: Wells' seven PhDs proved his expertise in the field of science, in physics, chemistry and biology. Wells was able to assist The Flash in the field by providing methods to achieve great feats with the use of physics, create Velocity Serums with the help of Caitlin Snow, and deduce cellular degeneration in the body of Jay Garrick.[16][17]
- Marksmanship: Wells was proficient in handling of sidearms and rifles, with him often wielding the stolen Pulse Rifle to defend himself.[8]
Weaknesses[edit source]
Former Weaknesses[edit source]
- Brain Damage/Limited Intelligence: After supercharging the Thinking Cap with Dark Matter, the neurons in Wells' brain were severely damaged, reducing his intelligence at an alarming rate to a point where he could only mumble a comprehensive sentence with the use of the Thinking Cap. The situation was later reversed with the help of Marlize DeVoe, who was only able to restore Wells' intelligence to an average level.[12] However, by 2019, Wells was slowly regaining his intelligence, ultimately achieving his initial thought parameters while recovering in the mind of Nash Wells.[3][13]
Equipment[edit source]
Former Equipment[edit source]
- Next Gen Watch: Wells developed the Next Gen Watch after he realized that the people of Central City need a way to detect the presence of Metahumans within a close radius. The watch was installed with the Metahuman Awareness App, and would be activated when Dark Matter was detected.[8]
- Pulse Rifle: Upon arriving on Earth-1, Wells broke into Mercury Labs and stole the Pulse Rifle. The rifle then became Wells' weapon of choice, often using it to defend himself from threats such as King Shark and Zoom.[18]
- Thinking Cap: In hopes of fighting Clifford DeVoe with his intelligence, Wells urged Cisco Ramon to create a modified version of DeVoe's Thinking Cap, boosting Wells' intelligence in the process.[10]
