For other uses of Superman, see Superman (Disambiguation).

My father believed that if the world found out who I really was, they'd reject me... out of fear. I let my father die because I trusted him. Because he was convinced that I had to wait. That the world was not ready. What do you think?
    — Clark Kent to Lois Lane[src]

Clark Joseph Kent, born as Kal-El, is Krypton's first natural birth in centuries and a Kryptonian refugee sent to Earth mere days before Krypton's destruction. Kal-El is also the son of Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van.

Landing in Smallville, Jonathan and Martha Kent adopted young Kal-El and gave him the name of Clark Kent, raising him as their own son. As Kent grew up, he began to develop exceptional abilities and was told not to reveal it to anyone while his adoptive parents attempted to teach him how to control them. Unfortunately, him listening to Jonathan's orders about hiding himself led to the latter's death in a tornado, which guilted Kent for years.

Kent soon began to travel and help people in need. His actions were discovered by Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane, whom Kent began a romantic relationship with while battling General Zod. After the Black Zero Event, Kent revealed himself to the world as the Superman, serving as one of Earth's greatest heroes.
