Blue Beetle is a 2023 film based on the DC Comics character, the Blue Beetle, and the sixteenth film in the DC Extended Universe. It premiered on August 15, 2023, in El Paso, Texas and on August 18, 2023, in the United States.
The film stars Xolo Maridueña, Adriana Barraza, Damián Alcázar, Elpidia Carrillo, Bruna Marquezine, Raoul Trujillo, with Susan Sarandon, and George Lopez, and is directed by Angel Manuel Soto with screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.
While Blue Beetle is a DC Extended Universe production, its lack of connectivity to previous projects made the content within suitable to be connected to the DC Universe franchise. As a result, despite its status, the character of Blue Beetle will be the first DC Universe character to debut, though the film itself is not part of the new franchise.[1]
