Ralph Dibny is a private investigator and one of the victims of the Bus 405 Dark Matter incident.
With his cells supercharged by the Dark Matter, Dibny gained the ability to elasticize, contort and stretch his body into countless forms and shapes. He was then recruited to Team Flash and became the Elongated Man. In 2020, Dibny was severely injured in an explosion and later left to join Sue Dearbon's journey to stop secret organizations similar to Black Hole across the world.

Early Life[edit source]
Ralph Dibny was a police detective at Central City Police Department until he was fired for tampering with evidence.[1]
The Elongated Man[edit source]
At some point, Dibny took a bus and was exposed to Dark Matter which turned him into a Metahuman with an elastic physiology. Eventually, Dibny joined Team Flash as the Elongated Man.[1]
Case Closed[edit source]
In 2019, Dibny was hired by Richard and Penelope Dearbon to find their daughter, Sue Dearbon. About 9 months later, Dibny tracked Dearbon using her credit card, and he found her in an apartment. As he arrives, the apartment exploded and Dearbon escaped with him back to his office. Later, Dearbon claimed she was John Loring's girlfriend, and they were merely fighting each other. As they went to Loring's warehouse, they were attacked by a group of thugs, and they were forced to escape using Dibny's powers.[1]
After they returned to the office, they decided to go to the CC Mercantile Bank to acquire Loring's property. Dibny disguised himself as Joe West and entered the vault. As they got it, Dearbon locked Dibny in the vault and escaped, only to be faced by Loring's criminal organization. As Dearbon is about to get shot, Dibny arrived on his suit through the sprinklers. Dibny protected Dearbon, and they argued until Ultraviolet defeated the group. Later, Dibny was knocked away and Dearbon fought Ultraviolet. Eventually, Ultraviolet and Dearbon escaped when The Flash arrived.[1]
A few weeks later, Dibny asked Cisco Ramon to help him hack into the First National CC Bank's security cameras. Later, they realized that the woman Cisco met is actually disguised by Dearbon. Dibny soon tracked down her in an investment company and talked to her. Dearbon compromised and gave him the drive with customers of CC Bank's money.[2]
Final Showdown[edit source]
After the team discovered Iris West-Allen' real identity as a replica, they came out with a plan to take down her plans and rescue the real West-Allen. Later, Dibny and Allen went to a warehouse and saw Mirror Singh burning Black Hole storage.[3]
Dibny returned to his office and met the Dearbons. As Dibny apologizes for unable to find Dearbon, Dearbon appears on the back and claimed she returned. Dibny took Dearbon out and told her that the files of the Dibnys were destroyed but Dearbon refused to take them as Joseph Carver stopped threatening them.[3]
Later during the battle against Eva McCulloch's team, Dibny was aided by Dearbon, and they fought against the team. After the battle, Dibny informed that Dearbon was framed for the murder of Joseph Carver by Eva McCulloch.[3]
Dibny then went on the run with Dearbon to an undisclosed location.[4]

After finding evidence to prove Dearbon's innocence, Dibny was caught in an explosion at McCulloch Labs and was continuously melting. Dearbon then brought him to S.T.A.R. Labs and Dibny was given a Mobile Biogenic Containment Unit to slowly recover from the injury. He then bid farewell to Team Flash and left with Dearbon to eradicate other hidden organizations across the planet.[5]
At some point, Dibny and Dearbon encountered a room with laser sensors, which was difficult to both of them. Eventually, they were able to complete their mission.[6]

Powers[edit source]
- Elasticity: Dibny is capable of stretching his body in any shape as well as retain his muscle memory to revert to his original shape.
- Shape-Shifting: By altering his cells, Dibny is able to shapeshift into a different face.
- Superhuman Durability: As a result of his elasticity, Dibny is able to withstand attacks and different form of dangerous items. However, he is unable to revert to his original form after exposed to 500 degrees of heat and was continuously melting.[5]

- Investigation: After being in the police department and being an expert private investigator, Dibny was able to use his skills of investigation.

- Heat: After being caught in an explosion of 500 degrees, Dibny was continuously melting and needed the BCU to recover from the injury.[5]
