Michael Francis Murphy was a Central City Police Department Officer and the partner of Tony Bellows.[1]
Biography[edit source]
The Dark Riders Attack[edit source]
In 1990, when they were arresting multiple members of the Dark Riders, Bellows and Murphy found Barry Allen on the street. Barry told them that his dog Earl bit him and ran away. They both brought Barry back to his apartment and Tony noticed that Earl was at Barry's window. Barry told them that the dog knew how to open a door and left the car. Murphy would blame Tony for eating the donuts that were at the back of the car. Sometime later, when the Dark Riders took control of the prison, when Tony pretended to have witnessed "The Flash", Murphy believes that he is delusional.[1]
The Homeless Disappearance[edit source]
The next week, during the homeless disappearance, Bellows and Michael answered a call about a "dangerous dog". Upon arriving, they met the "dog" that was, in fact, a mutated monster. Michael went to search for a rifle in the car and when he came back, Bellows claimed to have been saved by the Flash, but he didn't believe him. When Barry arrived, the dog started to turn back into a regular dog.[2]
The Fires[edit source]
When mysterious fires started to happen in Central City, Murphy cleared the area where the third fire happened with Bellows. When the Flash apparently saved some kids, he didn't see him but instead saw a firefighter a believed that everyone was making it up. Days later, he was at the precinct placing bets on where the Flash will supposedly show up and bet on places where he was sure he will never be spotted. He then confirmed to Barry that the warehouse fire was in deed an arson before reminding him that he could still place bets on an available area. Days later, the arsonist Noble John Spanier was tied to a pole to confess his crimes and when he asked if the witness was the one that stopped him, she told him that the Flash did and was disappointed learning that Bellows placed a bet on this area.[3]
The Museum Theft[edit source]
When the Death Mask of Rasputin was displayed at the Central City Museum, Michael and Bellows were both assigned to surveillance. Michael mocked Bellows for bringing huge snacks to the job and criticized his belief of The Flash due to the precinct receiving a message for "El Flasho". When Barry asked what was the message, Michael simply told him that it was a Rendezvous at Marco's Billiards and Barry left.[4]
Day of the Dead Festival[edit source]
During the event of the Day of the Dead Festival, the church at the Hispanic part of Central City somehow had the "statues moving" which blocked the circulation of the street outside. When Michael heard Father Becerra claims about the statues moving by themselves, he mocked him which angered Lt. Garfield who asked him and his partner to carry back the statues to their place. They then both carried Jesus' statue back inside the church and complained about how heavy it was. The next day, when the local Santero's shop was trashed by a "mysterious force", he and Bellows came to see the damage and mocked his delusion and compared the ghost to "the flash". He then asked if the Santero wanted to press charges, but the latter refused claiming that "you don't press charges against the gods". He then mocked Bellows who was still curious about what he claimed to be "gods". After that scene, he went outside, and he witnessed the Santero fainting as a girl rejected the chicken foot he gave her.[5]

Notes[edit source]
- One of the most recurring running gag about him until the Captain Cold episode was the fact that he has never seen the Flash and never believed in his existence which caused him to mock his partner on multiple occasion because he was the only one that saw him.
- In Captain Cold his middle name was revealed to be Francis.
