Cain was the world's first murderer, who was cursed by God and given a mark that forced him to live forever in penance for his crime. Throughout his punishment, he took on multiple aliases and operated across countless cities. Eventually, Cain settled as Marcus Pierce, a police Lieutenant of the Los Angeles Police Department, and located Lucifer Morningstar to ask for his assistance in committing suicide.

- Cursed Physiology: After killing his brother, Abel, Cain was forced to live for eternity while paying for his crimes. Under God's orders, Amenadiel marked Cain, only for the mark to disappear after developing romantic relationships with Chloe Decker.
- Immortality: To punish Cain for his crimes, God cursed him to live a life while paying for his crimes. As a result, Cain was not allowed to die or to be permanently injured, with love being the only thing capable of removing the curse.
- Hyperthymesia: Aside from being able to live for an extended period of time, Cain could also recall his entire life even moments from millennia ago.
- Regenerative Healing Factor/Resurrection: No matter how severe the injuries were, Cain was unable to kill himself or to permanently injure himself. Cain was able to survive being engulfed in molten lava and cut in half, though the latter showed that he could only resurrect one part of his body even when his body is divided into pieces. Additionally, Cain is invulnerable to the Demon Daggers forged in Hell, and is only vulnerable to the Flaming Sword.

- Hand-to-Hand Combat: After living for years, Cain trained himself to become an extremely strong individual, capable of combating angels with little effort.
- Marksmanship: While operating as Marcus Pierce, Cain was trained with handling standard firearms issued by the police department.

- Flaming Sword: Cain could only be killed and erased from existence by the Flaming Sword.
- Self-Actualization: Like other divine beings, Cain's curse could be removed when he finally believed he was free from his punishment.
